I don't agree that there is only one god. There are many. They are each different and none are all-knowing, all-powerful, all-positive, or all-negative.

At least there are one or two people on here talking sense.
Religion is about as ungodly as you can get. Claiming everyone who doesn't believe as you is going to hell, no matter how good a person they are is ungodly.
Religion is a business. Always has been. Even the definition of the word means nothing of God. Religion in the biblical sense is the structuring of belief, not the belief itself. Too so many, the structure has become more important than the belief. "It's more important for you to believe like me than it is for you to treat others well and be good.". That's anything but a Godly message, and it's everything that all religions teach, though you'll be hard pressed to find even the most devote Christian with strong enough convictions to say openly that some perfectly positive, loving, benevolent person of another religion has no business in heaven because they don't believe one particular thing or another.
Well, guess what people? If the particular beliefs are more important than the big picture (be good) that seems to be the message of every religion, then there are going to be a lot more of us in hell than in heaven. Where do you stop separating people by their beliefs? Even Christians believe differently than each other. Which Christians are right, the Catholics, the Protestents, Baptists, Episcopalians, Mennonites, who? They can't all be right. If there isn't one central message God is using all religions as a vehicle to preach, and the truth is in the details that make them all different, then only one can be right. Who's it going to be? Chances are, not you. Are you really comfortable choosing one religion as THE only right one, despite the fact that all of them preach essentially the same message?
There are so many religions because men have created them, and men can't agree with each other on the details, so they keep creating them.
Which one is right? Whichever makes you act more like God wants you to act, whether you got the message via one of the many Christian religions, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, or however else it was delivered.

There is only One God. The One God also has many names appointed by God's divine will. All the names refer to the same One God, even if people claim it's a different God. In Islam, God reveals 99 divine names to humankind and 3000 names to angelic beings in heaven. God is One but also has many attributes (like The Almighty, The Creator, The Most Kind, The Most Powerful, The All-Knowing, etc)
Here is a link that lists the 99 names of God with explanation.

All the religions with holy book pray to the same God...
Christianity. Jews and Islam's God is the same and they pray to the only God....even for religions like Hinduism or Buddhism, if u ask 'em, they will say we pray to different Gods but the meaning of those small God's is the only one God(as i asked my Hindi and Buddha friends)....
Overall....I think the important thing here is to believe there is a very very powerful reason behind world's existence(God is the reason)...its just some religions could lead right and some couldn’t...
hope i could make my point :D

If you are a young person, it is secure to believe in one God instead of multiple Gods. We are having a hard time following the advice of one God why should we burden ourselves with multiple Gods.
Different religions have different beliefs.
There is a school of thought called "atheism" which questions whether a God exists at all.
Don't worry about who is right. I think both are wrong. Do what your are comfortable with.

I love the idiots who responded by telling you that the christian bible proves that the christian god it the only true one!
that's hysterical
by that logic, the koran proves that allah is the only real god
and the torah proves that only the jewish god (and not christ) is the only real god
and so on.
Where do these people come from???
They can't recognize an obvious tautology????
they're arguing:
The christian god is the only real god because the christian god says so.
Have these people suffered some severe head trauma???

There is so many gods because no one wants to serve the One True God. Allah and Jehovah-GOD are not the same. GOD is a spirit being. False gods are materialistic entities. I can say that I serve the One True GOD because of a personal spiritual relationship and his manifestations.

There is the one true God, who created us, then there are the idols that people worship as gods, such as Buddha, Mohammed, and so on. And there are also some that worship what they consider gods, but in actually are demons pretending to be a god, to pull people away from the true God. So, in fact, there is only one God.

There is only one god. All religions are man made.
When god wants to show him to somebody he makes him have an personal experience about god. This experience can vary from person to person in degree of purines.

One true God in heaven! But people invent their own Gods. But God is a jealous God and He said you should have no other Gods before Him. So if something in your life is more important than Him, you are guilty of serving other Gods.
