eg. dogma, cult of personality, belief in a certain one true path, intolerance of other systems, obligation to tow the "party line" etc

Could communism, facism etc be considered as religions in themselves ?

Or at least could they be considered a very close cousin to religion ?

I ask this because many theists attempt to show the "evilness" of atheism by saying communist russia was atheist.

While thinking about this I wondered if in fact religion had more in common with communism.

She told me she smokes too much(MARIJUANA)which really affect her.Though when we spoke about God she somehow make gist of the discusion,though she calim she once believed but no more.But the environment Im is like when one person is found speaking with a girl that person is been regarded as the same with others..Which Ive been wrongly accussed once.Sad enough, she likes talking with me but some times i tried to avoid her just because nobody is around us to know what the discusion is all about.She even ask me once to go to disco with her which i gave her excuse but never tell her Im not interested.Now I found out she is going out with somebody,though the same person doesnt prac tise his Christianity just because of girls according to him.What is the advice?should i still be talking to her or just find a good day say what i need to say and live her to her choice!

Is there a loving God that turns his back on callous indifference? Should Christians factor in accountability for the resources they have?Should we begin to judge our wants by the needs of the poor? if you dream of someone who hate.. I hate this basketball player and I have nothing but unkind words for him. He appeared one time in my dream and I do not why on earth would he appear in my dreams. If I have to dream, I would dream of my favorite player. After I dreamt of him, what happened was I sort of like him already. I really don't know what does it mean and why all of sudden I am liking this guy.. (BTW, I am just a fan and have never met w/ this player. I am just referring to a our local players here.)

There is a Christian woman who works with me. Three weeks ago she gave a small wrapped package to another employee whom she presumed was gay. Inside the package was a note stating, "this is not given to you in judgement"...and a cassette tape about how to become straight through Christianity.
Management became aware of this and immediately told her not to do it again...that it was not the right place.
This lady did it again two weeks ago, but this time the man she gave her package to was a customer! The customer was very upset and notified management. This employee was 'written up' and told not to do it again ....to anyone, while on the clock.
Last week she did it yet again! This time she gave her package to another employee, but they had both punched out and were not on the timeclock....but were still on company premises.
Management is afraid to fire her, thinking she'll sue.
What do you think?

I could not believe the Church Goesr that voted President Bush into office. and even a second time?? The Preachers and Evangelists were so struck by Bush'S anti abortion statements, they fell for his lets go to War reasoning.
Now after all his lies, the USA has not won any wars. have less Oil, and have lost to many Soldiers, Now we need to be elswhere in the Schem of World events, and we have not the right believable Leader to put it in motion.
Kennedy's word caused Castro to back down. I dont think Bush could back a frog off.

Tell me who the religious are a bunch of crazies? It seem like a bunch of so called "prophet" whatevers (christian, jew, muslim and mormon) go a little batty and take a really long walk alone. Then from all the dehydration they start to hallucinate that they start hearing the "magical voices". Maybe all of them we're a little skitzo. Would you agree or explain it to me pleez?

my mother was visittin Lebanon,she was stuck during the attacks,i went crazy,i was full of anger and rage,i decided to pray with all my heart,i don't usually pray unless i'm scared,i felt so calm,24 hours later mum came home,she said it was like a miracle,ppl she didn't know helped her....Heavenly God,all i can say is if ur a jew,christian or muslim,pray..... just pray,it brings us back to our sanity and harmony....

I disagree with some of Jehovh's Witnesses belief (e.g medical use of blood). But, I keep thinking on these: (a) most of them live according to Biblical laws, (b) they fully understand what the kingdom of God is--that it is a real government, and (c) that their preaching work just like what the apostles did is really God's way of warning us that he will soon cleanse the earth.

What if they are correct? Suppose they are correct. An angel tells you--at the end of this world--bow down your head please so I can chop it off. I have to chop off some 184,999 heads more. My friend here has to chop off 200K more.

What if JW's are correct? What should we do? Should we not act now, that there is time?

The question is neutral. I'm not saying which one I believe and I'm not trying to "score points" for either side, so please don't flame me for being either a "f***ing bible thumper!" or a "poor soul who will face God's reckoning for being a non-believer."

I'm asking this question because I'm curious what other people, of various belief systems, think about the question. I'm just curious about people, and this forum is a great opportunity to ask those kinds of questions to a large, semi-random group...

At the end of his crusade, King Richard of England and Saladin actually ate together and negotiated a truce for all peoples to use the Holy City. At one point, he even offered one of his sisters in marriage to Saladin to "complete the deal".

If you never seen Jesus before physically, how would you know its really him? an imposter is capable of fooling the masses if this is belived by many. the disgusting display of heartless stupidity of the protest the "church "people from Kansas ,at the funeral in the state of Indiana of a US soldiers killed in Iraq.? It was the most insensitive act Ive ever seen,they said his death (he was not gay) and all the other deaths of US soldiers in Iraq are because God hates gays and the US laws giveing gays any rights at all. I cant beleive anyone could do something like this,the IN,police arrested their sick asses but not soon enough for me. Arent all you bible thumpers ashamed of yourselves? can u imagine how hard this mission is. by calling a whole nation of pagans toward worshiping one God, you are putting ur life in deep risk.

so what will you do if God told you: "Hey..you! send my warning to those pagans, and tell them that ur God is only one, and all the idols and other things u worship should be destroyed"
