There is a Christian woman who works with me. Three weeks ago she gave a small wrapped package to another employee whom she presumed was gay. Inside the package was a note stating, "this is not given to you in judgement"...and a cassette tape about how to become straight through Christianity.
Management became aware of this and immediately told her not to do it again...that it was not the right place.
This lady did it again two weeks ago, but this time the man she gave her package to was a customer! The customer was very upset and notified management. This employee was 'written up' and told not to do it again ....to anyone, while on the clock.
Last week she did it yet again! This time she gave her package to another employee, but they had both punched out and were not on the timeclock....but were still on company premises.
Management is afraid to fire her, thinking she'll sue.
What do you think?

This lady needs to learn to keep her work life and her christian life seperate. She can't go around telling others how to live their lifes. She should at least get an official warning, and if thats already happened I would probably fire her. Please don't rely on this answer alone though I don't wanna be responsible for someone losing their job!

The Bible says that we are to obey all authority that God has established. Her manager is an authority that God has put in place. She has repeatedly violated the dictates of management, and she has done so foolishly. If management elects to terminate her, then I do not think she will have any recourse at law. Having been warned not to conduct such activities at work and having been written up for doing do does not seem to affect her common sense---which obviously she has none. Preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and making people aware of their sin in the duty and responsibility of every Christian, but the Christian is not to make a nuisance of himself/herself in the process. If she is fired, then it will be her own fault for violating company directives. Jesus still loves her, but he is no respecter of persons and will not make any exceptions for her just because she is evangelizing. We have boundaries that we have to observe, and if we step outside those boundaries then we have to accept the consequences.

I would fire her because she sounds like a nut, and I'm a Christian. Their priority is making a profit and they don't need anyone that hurts that. It really has nothing to do with her being a Christian or a believer of a moon god.

Maybe a devil worshiper needs to give her a tape how to become gay.

On company premises, she is still representing the company in a bad way. The company might get sued soon is she is not fired.

Anyway, she has already lost the company a customer, so yes. Three strikes, you're fired.

She has created a hostile environment for customers and employees, and is guilty of harassment. This type of harassment is illegal. This will be on a poster on her company bulletin board. She has been warned, and did it again. She should be fired immediately. The company needs to get advice from their human resources consultant and follow their explicit instructions on how to remove her from employment. Harassment is illegal.

Yes, she should be fired. The work-place is no place for religion or personal judgement. I understand why they would be afraid to fire her, but if she did sue, she would be bringing her inapropriate behavior forward for all to see.

She could seriously damage the business with her behavior, and they would have every right to fire her under those circumstances; if it goes any further, they would have the right to sue her.

um, a company has a right to fire someone for any reason. if they're telling her not to do something, and she keeps doing it, then they have every right to fire her. it doesn't matter what the thing is that she's doing wrong, it only matters that she's not following orders. I'd give her one more chance and make sure that she fully understands that she's not allowed to do that, and if she did it again, i'd fire her.

Maybe you can let it go the first time but she should have been fired the second time for doing it to the customer!

That was reason enough to cut her loose and she wouldn't have been able to sue for unfair dismissal.

Forget religion- this person has created a hostile and discriminatory working environment, and repeatedly ignored requests to stop the inflammatory behavior. She should be treated no differently than the fellow who harasses women sexually and leaves 'suggestive' gifts on their desks.

Fire her.

Fired,you can't go ramming yourreligion and opinions down the throats of others unless they are open to it.She wrote that this pkg. was not given in judgement,yet how much more judgemental can you get.
