At the end of his crusade, King Richard of England and Saladin actually ate together and negotiated a truce for all peoples to use the Holy City. At one point, he even offered one of his sisters in marriage to Saladin to "complete the deal".

No, unfortunately, people are too tied up in their extreme viewpoints to actually sit down and look at things from the other person's point of view.

It's the Bush viewpoint of "you're either with us or against us" and it's not just him, but leaders all over the world that are thinking this way.

Only if a great man with true nobility like Saladin exists again. A man who forgives his enemies when he is the winner. In facts, those are the ethics of Islam.

No. There are no one like this in present times. Its the clash of egos and religious beliefs which are making life very difficult for common people all around the world.

Not likely. It would be more likely that they would resolve the conflict by playing a game of soccer every 4 years. Winner take all.
