This is the inverse of the typical question to atheists 'What would it take for you to believe in God?'

And if you say we share a % with any other species, my reaction would be duh! we have a common ancestor with that species to.

You say we share 77% with a pig? Good, going back several millions and millions of years, we were the same species.

I bet we even share DNA with the single celled organisms on the planet.

I have all the respect in the world for other peoples beliefs but I'm offended when people imply or outright tell me that I'm not complete or even a bad person for not believing what they do. What are some poignant things you have said or heard said to people like this? I'm tired of letting it slide.

.......they fear admitting that we are not all devinely created perfection created in the image of some kind of god. That maybe our orgins are not quite so glamourous as they would like to think, that maybe we are not as important in this universe as they would like to think.

Does the fact that we shared a common ancestor with other primates dent their pride ?

Are they so full of themselves that they really believe we were devinely created ?

Is it letting go of this notion the real issue that creationists have ?

If you are, and god is real, he knows you're bullshiting him and you're still going to hell. God(which is really fake) will probably respect atheist more for not taking him for a game.

If we all have a spirit/soul...when the body ceases and the spirit/soul is no longer being contained by an identifiable being, everything endured in this Lifetime will be washed away & erased. That's HEAVEN. When you know about what is good and evil, you have the power to do either one. Now multily that by each and every living/dead person in this world. From Adam & Eve until now this is how bad we've become of ourselves: Jealousy, being Scared, doing Crimes against one another, Destroying peoples relationships, Dishonor, Distrust, Trashing our Earth, Doing unto others as you defintately wouldn't want done unto YOU....And to live in FEAR and FALSEHOOD is worse than DEATH. When we die, I believe that everything will be erased & "reset". When you truely do not know what is good and what is evil, you will never do wrong. You wouldn't ever get worried or scared because that is a product of evil. THINK ABOUT IT. When you expire the weight of the world will be lifted, LITERALLY! THATS HEAVEN

The full quote :

"No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."

Note : On Flag Day, June 14, 1954, Congress passed the legislation adding the phrase "under God" to the Pledge.

This has not existed since the founding of the USA and has nothing to do with the principles of what the USA was founded on.

The Bible was written thousands of years ago right. People beleive in Jesus today as being a God-Like being, if not God himself. By that rationale do you think in 10 thousand years Peter Pan will be worshipped as a God? It seems logical.

Let look at the bible story of Jonas and the whale - When the bible says " Just as the Jonas was in the belly of the whale for, so shall the Son of Man be in the belly of the earth " - The question can be asked: Was Jonas dead or alive inside the belly of the whale? You answer yourself.

Your answer will give you the answer to the question : Did Jesus (PBUH) die on the cross.

God doesn't look at our actions; he looks at our beliefs, say the masses here on Yahoo! Answers. In other words, there's no reason for moral behaviour so long as you've accepted Jesus?

I've just learnt that slave drivers who believe in Jesus are going to heaven and philanthropists who don't believe in Jesus are going to hell. So it really doesn't matter who we are, what we do and how much we strive to improve the world?

Is this complete amorality really the Christian message?

about my question. What would the religious right do if Jesus came back as a dark skinned, female, lesbian. Jesus was dark skinned, honored women and loved all. He/She might just come back as anyone they choose. Some people understood the humor and depth of this question, others just ranted. Your not too Christian if you can't at least consider the possibility
