Numbers 23:21 says that God "has not seen wickedness in Israel." If this is so, explain why your god burned Israelites for complaining (Num 11:1), sent a plague against them for eating the meat he had given them (Num 11:33), why he burned people for using incense (Num 16:35), why he sent a plague against the Israelites who accused Moses of wrongdoing (Num 16:44-49), & why he sent fiery snakes among the Israelites (Num 21:5). Is the Bible implying that God lies when it is a matter of convenience?
Explain why I should believe that your god is all-good when the only real information we have about him is the Bible, which clearly describes him as both good and evil. (See Isaiah 30:32, Luke 14:26, Numbers 31:17-18, Matthew 10:34, Amos 3:6, Deuteronomy 18:8, Deuteronomy 20:16, Exodus 20:5, Exodus 32:27, Isaiah 45:7, Psalms 52:5, Luke 22:36, & Jeremiah 18:11 for a small sample of Biblical passages which describe Jehovah as having an evil morality at times).

As a follow-up question to "Does anyone make it to Hell?:"

Again assuming again that God exists, if God is so compassionate, and loves everyone in an overwhelmingly, practically incomprehensible way, and unconditionally at that, when faced with Him upon death, how could anyone possibly turn away from that? Even assuming that there are some people who are incredibly evil, and *don't* have some sort of mental illness, how is it even possible to *want* to turn God away at that point? I just can't even begin to think that's possible. My point is not to convert atheists, but more to examine again the idea of how anyone could possibly pick Hell over Heaven. During life here on earth, it takes a lot of confidence and trust to believe in God without seeing Him -- some don't see enough evidence in His existence. But when actually faced with Him? How could someone even begin to want to be without God?

In other words, can you truly believe to the core of your soul that you are doing what God wants you to do, while you are actually doing something He/She considers to be vile and despicable?

It's pretty absurd. Jesus wasn't a white dude, nor was he a Black dude, as they like to depict him in Black churches. He was a Jew from the Middle East -- that means he was semetic-looking! He probably had the skin tone of a modern-day Arab. Does that notion bother a certain kind of Nascar Christian?
Oh, and since we're on the subject: why is he now depicted as being totally cut, and having 6 pack-abs? Every time I see a statue of Christ on the cross, he's got the sort of body of someone who spends 30 hours a week working out, and who eats Atkins!

After all, they believed they were doing God's work, and most likely said their prayers 5 times a day, not counting midnight mass. They were the Bible thumpers of their day, and those giving the orders to burn people alive were high priests of the Church.

How did everything come about? I dont know. I guess god did it. I'm too stupid and lazy to think about any other possibilities. It's too hard. oops. Did I just doubt god? I better stop thinking like this before god catches me and send me to hell.

I KNOW I'M RIGHT. CHRISTIANS CAN'T BE NOTHING BUT STUPID

There's nothing in Scripture that points exclusively to capitalist economic systems, and more than a few places that suggest that a focus on profit and material goods is a big mistake. So why are Christians so supportive of free-market capitalism?

I'm half-serious. I read these questions and answers and I am amazed by the ignorance. Not just an ignorance of history, acheology and science, but even an ignorance of the Bible itself. Most have apparently never read the Bible closely and critcally.

The evolution situation is the most egregious. Listening to Christians argue agains evoution is like listening to the Christians argue to Galileo that Sun must go around the earth because the Bible says so. I mean, my girlfriend grew up in a 3rd world country, taught by nuns, and even they were taught that evolution is undeniable. Do creationists realize that they are the laughing stock of the world?

Honestly, is there an anti-intellectual strain in American christianity? Most that I've met know very little about history and science (even outside of evolution.)

Why can't they read? I've read the bible and many pro-creationist books (They are a great laugh!) Why can't they return the favor?

GOD gives us a free will to choose HIM or hell and if we dont choose HIM as are LORD and savior we have said in un spoken words that we want hell and the god of hell is satan. GOD made you for Himself to love and to be loved and our parents adam and eve by their own free will choose to disobey GOD by going against Him when He said do not eat of the fruit on the tree that is in the middle of the garden..they chose to go against Him and go their own way and sin game into this world that was not GODS plan. GOD left this world because he came not be in the same room as sin is in and left us to try to fend for our own but we as humans will always mess up things and in all thoes years on earth before JESUS we could not get it right..so HE sent Jesus to die for to give us the one and only way out of our messed up life full of sin. Call on JESSU and you will be saved from your own self.

This morning I saw a man working on a live electrical box (one that is connected and has electricity) He was stringing a bare wire past the electric meter and he was touching the metal power pole which is obviously grounded.. I know quite a lot about electricity, and this was very dangerous..
Should I have warned him or not??? Did I have an obligation to say something???? What do you think.

Assuming that both Heaven and Hell exist, as well as a compassionate and all-understanding God, *and* putting aside religious affiliation, is there anyone so bad that they could be sent to Hell? Serial killers, pedophiles, and the like of today's society aren't normal people -- something's mentally wrong, and for this, I can't really imagine that God would turn them away from Heaven because of a defect in their minds. Even Hitler, although his works were atrocious, could not have been a sane man to do what he did. And his Nazi soldiers? Brainwashed into this easy-to-fall-for doctrine of antisemitism in the name of a broken Germany.
