Benedict has made uniting all Christians and healing the 1,000-year-old rift with the Orthodox a primal goal of his papacy.

All Christians are part of the catholic (little c) Church and part of the Body of Christ.

The Bible encourages us to be in agreement and to work together.

All Christians should have the unity of the Body of Christ as a goal.

The strictly anti-Catholic denominations will remain strictly anti-Catholic. It's not like a corporate merger where hostile takeovers are possible. If the merger is complete, the Orthodox churches that align with it will retain their own customs but recognize the Pope as their ecclesiastical leader, in the same way that a new state in the Union would recognize George Bush as the political leader.

The "One World Church" as a forebearer of the Apocalypse is a misinterpretation by the famous anti-Catholic Tim LaHaye. He ignores the calling to christian unity in Ephesians. Ecumenism, anybody? Or is your pastor and your congregation the only ones to be saved?

The Catholic Church isn't the only one with a stained past. Consider the fates of the Old Believers under the Russian Orthodoxy. Still, the Church has learned from its mistakes. This would be a good step, though we wouldn't notice much of it in the U.S., where most Catholics follow the Latin rite, and Orthodox Christians aren't a substantial part of the population.

According to the Orthodox Church, it is the Roman Catholic Church that is in schism and even heresy. The Orthodox Church has never accepted Papal Supremacy or Universal Jurisdiction or Infallibility over the Church. It was the Roman Catholic Church which initiated the schism of 1054 by demanding compliance to teachings and doctrines foreign to what the Orthodox Church has received from the Fathers, Martyrs, and Confessors of the Faith and defended and upheld in the Seven Ecumenical Councils.

The Orthodox Church will accept the Papal claims. If the Papacy renounces its innovations and false theology, then we can think about union of the Churches.

I'm sorry to say this but no true Orthodox christian would accept a unification without correcting the Catholic Ideology. We believe the pope CAN make mistakes and the Holy Spirit Is from the Father only. these are the main differences that no faithful Orthodox would give up. besides, the Catholic Church has changed it's doctrines numerous times over the centuries to adapt to the desire of the Popes to rule the people. in your history there have been times when more than one pope was supposed to rule, and the massacres of inquisition. i do not call that very holy.Orthodoxy did not change. it is pure. i would love to see only one church but not at the cost of truth.

It's gonna happen. I've been involved in the ecumenical movement for the Church for 35 years.

Did you know that whole congregations of Episcopalians and Lutherans from the Missouri Synod are now Catholics? Their pastors and priests now Catholic priests?

And these are the ones we used to call heretics. The Orthodox Churches are merely schismatic. The oldest split in the garment of Christianity is on the way to being mended. All glory and honor be yours, o Lord, now and forever!

Most people have followed the church; look what Rev.13:1 says "...and all the world wondered after the beast." The Mark of the beast is 666! To accept the beast's mark is to not accept God's Holy Sabbath Day Saturday as Working on the Sabbath.(reference Deut.7:8)

ACTUALLY THE MARK OF THE BEAST IS WHAT PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND! IT'S VERY SIMPLE REALLY; YOU HAVE TO DO THE OPPOSITE OF IT.
THE OPPOSITE OF THE MARK IS THE "SEAL OF GOD" WHICH IS IN THE 4TH COMMANDMENT(EXOD.20:8-11; REV.14:7). BUT IF YOU DON'T KEEP HIS DAY(MARK) AND FOLLOW THE CATHOLIC CHURCH(IMAGE); HE WILL GIVE YOU THIS(REV.14:9-11).

Rev.13:17 "And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

Mostly (Rev.17:5)"Mother of Harlots" means it has "daughters" that are following the church's beliefs. Many don't know that the Catholic Church has "casted all the true doctrines to the ground and replaced them with false ones(Dan.8:12). For instance: Trinity (saying Jesus was here as spirit and flesh); when the Bible says (1John 4:2-3; 1John 1:7)"he came fully in the flesh."

Follow the same beliefs.

SDA(Seventh Day Adventists)--
Trinity, Going to Heaven, Pagan Feast Days, Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday.

OTHER SABBATH CHURCHES--
One or more of the Catholic Doctrines.

JEHOVAH WITNESSES--
Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday

I only know one church that isn't following the Catholic Church and that is The Living Church of God.(Eph.5:27; Acts 20:28)
