I love how people who don't take the time to learn about Buddhism or any other religion other than their own are so quick to say how false it is. I studied Buddhism along with many other religions and have to say that Buddhism, by far, is the most influential religion in my life. I don't hold to any religion because then you are limiting yourself and limiting your viewpoints and therefore you can not grow. I definately believe in reincarnation (I can tell you all about my last life) and I always wear a triquetra around my neck representing life, death, and rebirth.

Although there are many buddhist schools of thought, generally I am a buddhist because the teachings are based on truths that you can put into practice and see them work. Its not anything based on blind faith. The Buddha put forth these teachings and said not to trust his word or to do these things just because he said to. He wanted people to try it, see it and THEN beleive it. We are all motivated to better ourselves in different ways (some not at all) and this path works for me. Good question. Thank you

"It doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter."

Even if you are a monk, if your practice of the Way is not intense, if your aspiration is not pure, how are you any different from a layman? Again, even if you are a layman, if your aspiration is intense and your conduct wise, why is this any different from being a monk?
