Halfway jokingly but not totally. Think about the way your employer operates. They know the market sucks for job hunters. They're slowly cutting back on salaries, benefits, and etc. 'You don't like it?' they say, "Go some place else, we have 300 other people who will take it" Well the US. Gov't is the same. You don't like the taxes?, go to Russia, goto Iraq, how about Darfur or the Sudan, maybe even Haiti. You don't like it? We have many Third-World citizens that would love to take your place...They do it because they know you're not going anywhere and even if you did, you wouldn't like it and would be on your way back. The truth is this country is the best there is around, You couldn't find another place that has the rights and freedoms the U.S does.. and guess what they know it too!.. so it this beautiful capitolistic world, YOUR GOING TO PAY FOR IT! Any questions?

They're not really that comparable. God is our Creator and Provider; all that we have comes from him, and we acknowledge this by giving 10% of it back to him.

Governments are - usually and/or ideally - elected by the people and are instituted to provide services and protection to the people. They need money for this. We provide them with money and instruct them as to what they're to do with it (though they really don't listen that often). In that case, they often need more than 10% of a what a person makes in order to have sufficient funds.

I wouldn't worry about it--the powers that be are ordained of God.
