I have often found myself lost due to greed and lack of direction in our churches today. Can one inherit the kingdom of God if you do not belong to any church and you pray at home with your family and afew friends?

churches have always been corrupted. It is probably best to worship God in your own way.

God told us through the Apostle Paul-'do not forsake the meeting together'....He wants us to meet and grow. There is nothing wrong with meeting with and praying with family and friends. But do not forsake the local church-find one-or start one-but be in church.
It does seem that churches just want money-some do. But we have to remember that any legitimate church is not in any business. A legitimate church has no income except the tithes and offerings of the members. A church should never ask for donations from the community-whether through car washes, bake sales or raffles, or any other means. What that says to the community is that you serve a puny little god who can not even pay the light bill. Don't do it. It sends the wrong message.
Which church is right? I don't know what part of the country you live in. I assume the USA (I cant keep up with whole world). There are many good churches in the South and Mid-west. They get slim up North and out West. No offense to anyone. A good church will believe in Jesus only for salvation, and that the Bible is the infallible word of God. Outside that there is no good church. Some whole denominations are no good. Some are a little better. You can even find a good pastor in a good church in a bad denomination. But the best ones I have seen denomination wise, generally speaking are: Southern Baptist, Methodist (old-not united), Presbyterian (old), Calvary Chapel, Missionary Baptist, Bible Church, some Independant Pentecostal.
You just got to find one where Jesus is Lord and His word taught-good luck

First, have you gone to God and asked His help in finding a church home?
And are you really interested in finding a church or are you seeking an excuse in not going and feeling justified by it? I don't mean to sound condesending, but that question sounds like something that might come from someone quite young, I hear it alot from teens. See, churches are filled with men (I mean both men and women) who are sinners being taught by men who are sinners ... saved by grace, a gift of God, obtained by the willing sacrifice of the Son, administered by the Holy Spirit. Are there greedy people, hard hearted people, drug abusing people, sexually depraved people, etc in the church? Sure, because they're looking for the Savior. Your not lost; you've just got your eyes on the wrong thing. The church isn't perfect, never will be this side of heaven. Stop looking at the corruption, because until we put on incorruption guess what?, we're all STILL in corruption. Get your eyes off men and look to God. You need direction?, read your bible, thats your instruction manual for life. I can only assume your either a new believer or someone who is close to a decision on asking Jesus into your life. Going to church and being in fellowship with other believers is NOT a prerequisite to inherit the kingdom, but thats not an excuse not to. The bible tells us to do that. Heres the ideal situation...Find a church (and quit making excuses not to go) and attend regularly and do all the other stuff you mentioned. Just know this, God knows your heart, even better than you do. You can fool men but you can't put one over on God. He knows your intentions. God bless you.

I understand what you are saying, there are a lot of differences and disagreements among churches and denominations.

But it is unfair to say that all are greedy. Yes there are quite a few out there that are greedy. But there are just as many, if not more out there who are not.

Going to church is not a requirement for salvation. You can pray at home and with family and friends. However, something to keep in mind, if your desire is to truly honor and obey God, then you need to realize that one of the commands that you find in scripture is to not forsake the gathering of believers.

The problem is when we pick and choose what we want to obey, we end up not even close to what God desires from us and for us. That is exactly why there are such greedy churches out, why there is so much hurt and anger that flows from churches, why the Crusades happened, why there is so many different denominations, why there is much misunderstanding of what scripture says, because so many people who claim to be spiritual leaders only teach and pass on the stuff they like, and the stuff that makes them feel uncomfortable, they act like isn't in the Bible.

If you really want to know what the right thing is to do, I suggest you don't give a lot of credence to all the different answers that you are going to get here and that you would search scripture for yourself and see what it says. After all, scripture is the final authority, not people and their differing opinions.

The church at Corinth had all kinds of problems. In today's world many would have looked on it poorly wondering if it was even a church. Even Paul said that many in the church were suffering and even dieing because of their misuse of the Lords Supper. However when Paul writes to it he addresses it "to the church".So even an apostle recognized as much trouble as it may have it was still the church. Because the church is the Bride of Christ we can't cast off the Bride without also casting off the Bridegroom who purchased her. However we are also warned many times about false teachers, false prophets, and yes a false or antichrist church. You need to be able to discern the difference by using the guidelines laid down for us in Gods Word. Be like the Bereans who Paul commended for searching the scriptures to see if what he was teaching was true.

Try a good bible preaching/teaching church. Yes, a church does have to have funds to pay the pastor and keep the lights on, but one that has love offerings for this that and the other all the time outside of scriptural tithes/offerings is not a biblical teaching church.

We are commanded by Christ to assemble with others...and also be under the teaching of a bishop/pastor. So, would you sin and not be a part of a church? Find a good one....and you'll be just fine.

Praying at home will not do it... you need to be baptized by someone with the authority to do so.

check out your local churches... does the Pastor, Preacher, Bishop, (whoever is there) get PAID?... then ... how can it be a true church? Some churches really put on a GREAT show though!! very entertaining!!.. but.. I think most of them just try to attract people so they can make more money.... they are taking the glory instead of giving it to God.

ok.. sorry.. got carried away... check out.. http://lds.org/
read, listen, watch the videoes, pray..

the FULL scriptures are online, and you can get free copies by calling the 1-800 number.

Even the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints doe NOT get paid...

The right church is one that focuses on God's word - preaching expositorily. There should be love and care amongst its members. Financial income should not be stressed - but known to be important by the believers in the church. God's Word provides the best explanation of what should be found in a church.

Remember, "church" is not brick and mortor or a political organization. (sadly enough, all too often it seems that way).

Church is a group of believers. And going to church will not get you to heaven. Only Christ can do that. Church, or gathering with believers is a great way to honor and worship God. Plus you can go there to learn, grow in your faith, fellowship or join a small group.

My last thought for you is that there is NO PERFECT CHURCH. Because humans are a part of it. We attend church in a small rural community. And yes, we have our share of problems just like the big guys.

Good luck.

I extremely have never seen a sprint of greed at any church in any city i've got lived in. additionally, church councils commonly have a brilliant number of direction that plan events and keep the church in contact interior the community. i think of you're basically seeing what you desire to be certain. via how, in case you attend centers, you need to provide freely on the offering. The church is paid for via its congregation. in case you think of that's grasping then you definately extremely understand no longer something approximately how a church survives. God would not come down and pay the charges, the folk ought to. You people who think of church must be unfastened ought to take a actual reliable look at yourselves.

A church that teaches that God bought the church with his own blood, died for your sins, Jesus resurrected to conquer death, and receiving him in your life as the only truth. That is a church thats "right". All other issues are secondary and subject to debate.
