.......they fear admitting that we are not all devinely created perfection created in the image of some kind of god. That maybe our orgins are not quite so glamourous as they would like to think, that maybe we are not as important in this universe as they would like to think.

Does the fact that we shared a common ancestor with other primates dent their pride ?

Are they so full of themselves that they really believe we were devinely created ?

Is it letting go of this notion the real issue that creationists have ?

Also could you reference your claims. Some of them are hilarious. Some of them are just badly misinformed. Who exactly claimed neanderthal was man ? Man and neanderthal coexisted and shared a common ancestor but modern man did not evolve fron neanderthals.

Creationists believe in the bible. Their belief in the bible is arranged like a house of cards. Its validity depends upon every card being in place to support the others. Take away one card - such as what the bible says about the origin of mankind - and their entire faith collapses. That's a terribly painful, emotionally and intellectually, experience for them. It's more comfortable to deny science and go on blindly believing.

Is this the evidence for evolution?
Piltdown Man - A deliberate hoax. Ended up being a ape jaw attached to a human skull that was stained to look old.

Java Man - The discover later rejected it stating that a human & ape were just found in proximity.

Peking Man - Tools & human bones were found near the apes whose brains they were eating (monkey brains are still eaten in China).

Nebraska Man - An entire person (and family) was envisioned from a single tooth... a tooth that later proved to have come from a pig.

Lucy - Reclassified as an extinct ape.

Ramapithecus - A jaw & teeth were eventually dismissed as early human in origin (an Orangutan).

Neanderthal.... a man?
It was once thought that the Neanderthal was a man. But, thanks to advancement in science, genetic DNA research indicates that the chromosomes do not match those of humans. They do match those of bi-pedal primates (apes) though.

Tools? The use of crude tools by Neanderthal does not mean they were human. Many animals including birds, fish, and mammals use "tools".

Shelter? If Neanderthal created shelters, it does not imply they were human. Many animals (beavers, birds, bees) also construct shelters.

Religion? There is no evidence that Neanderthal practiced any form of worship or religion. Interestingly, that is the primary way the bible separates Man from animals.

Why then do some people still insist Neanderthal was man?

It's not about pride or being full of ourselves. It comes down to scripture is the final authority for our lives. And as such, we believe that what is in scripture is without error. Which means if Genesis says God created, then the Truth is God created.

Why is it that believing that we have been created by God means that we are full of ourselves? I'm not sure that I understand the connection that you are making.

I think part of the problem here is that some scientists would have you believe that evolution has been proven. It has not. There are certain things you just can't prove. As a believer, other than use of scripture and things in this world that confirm scripture, I can't prove that God created everything, but on the same page, evolutionists can not prove that evolution is correct. Many of the evidences used to prove evolution have later come out as being faked or contrived. And evolution goes against many of the scientific principals that science is based upon.

I think it takes just as much "faith" to believe in evolution as it does to believe in creation.

Christians know that the Bible is the absolute Word of God and is totally 100% true.

So no, none of the reasons you've mentioned even come close to the real reason lol. And that is because what the Word of God says is true.

I say creation and evolution work together and the Bible actually supports that. I think the problem is that creationists often forget that the whole 6,000 is not mentioned in the Bible, that's just what someone added up ... and they were wrong.

You'll have to go look at some of my answers on my profile to see my theory on it. I'm too tired to explain it all here lol :)

personally i think creation and evolution could go together in a way. We have proven evolution happened, so who's to say some "god" didn't make everything and then it adapted as the world he made changed? I am not religious, and i believe in evolution fully after all it has been confirmed scientifically, maybe we don't come from monkeys, that is a bit much, but we know animals and even people have changed over time which is (say it with me now) EVOLUTION! LoL. the concept isn't fighting religion really, why cant the accept that maybe if god created it all, and gave us free will we managed to alter his "perfect world" to the point that he slowly made changes in us to fit it better? that's kind of like divine evolution right?

First for "ddead_alive"

A) Your info concerning proto-hominids and hominids is wrong. The single deciding factor in assigning species status to a given hominid or pongid is mitochondrial DNA. We, the humans of today, share that DNA with the following: Homo Neanderthalensis, Homo Habilis, Homo Agastus (the earliest example yet found), and Homo Cro-Magnon (the lastest). These are aour ancestors in the direct line, biologically.
B) The above says NOTHING about the soul, the divine infusion from God that is what makes us in His image.

Second for the original questioner:

A) Pride is considered the Original Sin. It is certainly preeminent among the Seven Deadly Sins. Therefore, it is very possible that you are correct in your estimation. That being said, however, harrowing their pride is no way to get them over it. It will simply solidify their contumacity. Be gentle with the truth, especially when it can be used as a club. Remember, if you're forced to part a person's hair with a wrench, it's a lead-pipe cinch that YOU have failed to communicate.

The simple reason is because the missing link is yet to be found. It's not a pride issue it's an issue of evidence. I believe God could have used evolution to create humanity but there's no evidence to support the belief that man was created by evolution separate from a divine Being.

If you're a Christian, and believe the Bible, than you know that God created man in His image, in the image of God, He created them, male and female.

And He also created all the animals, each according to it's KIND. And each is to reproduce after it's KIND. Scientist know now that the building blocks of life, the DNA code, is a digital code. Digital codes can't evolve, thay have to be designed, and therefore need a designer. The reason why humans and primated have similarities in looks and DNA, they both had the same designer. After more then 120 years after Darwin, no one has ever found a missink link, because there is none.

Godless Evolution can also invoke feelings of glamour.

The idea that man was not created could give mankind the credit for everything they have become and have accomplished.

Perhaps Creationists would attribute these accomplishments to having been done with God's help.

Christianity is certainly not about being full of oneself but being filled with the Holy Spirit, and being a channel of God's love. Some people actually believe that we are supposed to die to ourselves, just as Christ died for us.

People who don't believe in God (not necessarily Evolutionists, because many Evolutionists believe in God) are more likely to be consumed with self because they don't have anything else to fill their beings with.

No. The reason they cannot accept evolution is that many scientist cant either. We also believe the Bible account of creation. You may act like the offspring of an ape, but it is not because it is true-its because you believe it. You were told you were an animal and you are behaving like you think you are supposed to act.
I was created in the image of God, that is what I was told. I believe it-see how I act. I don't act like no baboon. Cant you see the only difference between you and me is just what we believe. I know-I stayed at the beach a little longer than you did. But I can behave and act like a man of God and show respect. Can you show respect?
