Isn't this just rewarding the incompetence of the would-be killer?

the intent was there to end a life, and this is as abhorrent as actually doing so. I don't mean that anyone that wounds someone should face a life sentence, but surely if you shoot someone in the chest and they survive you should not face a shorter sentence because your victim survived.

In the American justice system you are considered innocent until proven guilty. But in the everyday world you are essentially guilty until proven innocent. Most stores you walk into have more than one security measure, magnetic tags, the scanners at the doors, cameras, etc., that scrutinize everyone who walks in, so everyone is assumed a potential thief. When going to a bank (unless you have an account there) or government agency you are required to provide generally multiple ID's to prove that you are who you are as they assume you are not.

Is it just me or is it sad that the few who are commiting crimes and falsifying information have caused the rest of us, the larger majority by far, who are doing nothing more than our personal legal business to be inconvienienced and scrutinized so that we can weed out the law breakers? I understand that it is the easiest way to go about it it's just kinda odd that the two processes are opposites.

Why is it that so many people, the majority of people, are totally oblivious to the damage they do every day, and that that damage is multiplied by the number of ignorant people involved? Can't they see that the way society in north america operates is the best way to destroy the human race? No one cares about anyone else. People will see someone hurt on the road and drive right on by. They b*tch about being fat, and still drive a car to work. They complain about insurance, which is only a tax on idiots, instead of learning to drive safely, or changing their eating habits. If one had to fix the vehicles damaged in an accident, they would not have so many of them! If there were no doctors to cure self-inflicted diseases, they might stop eating garbage food. This world is on it's way out, and no one knows it. Do we deserve to die out because too many people just don't give a damn?

I ask this question because there are people out there who don't want to do something great with their lives. They say it isn't a choice whether or not you want to, but it really is. Martin Luther King Jr. pursued after freeing the blacks from their white shackles. George Washington pursued after victory for America when it was almost dead. Becoming renown is a plus to doing something great in our world. Unfortunately, it is also a plus to doing great evil.

'Famine' gets 72, 'iraq war' gets 535, 'poverty' gets 352, 'child slavery' gets 14 and 'racism' alone gets 636.

Now am I alone in wondering what the world is coming to when some gobby, stupid cow on some reality TV show is the most talked about issue in our television-centric world???

Does this not speak volumes about the society we live in today? It worries me slightly. Anyone else?.....

We've all heard some form of this: "They hate you because they're jealous." "I feel sorry for people who are mean or rude to others because they are obviously miserable." "To be that mean, someone must have had some awful trauma in their life."

So is there any validity to this thinking, or is it just a way to make us feel better about ourselves after we've been hurt?

I attend a community college. I am very reserved and rarely speak. I don't even look people in the face that much, but that's just because there is no point! People glare at me and stare. I'm beginning to think this is because they think I'm snobby or something. Why is shyness such a loathable thing? Why is it snobby?!

I recently read that there are 100 million intercourses a day in the world. However, in another place I also came across a figure that there are about 20 million prostitutes worldwide. Somehow, the two don't seem to go together too well.
Does anybody of you have a clue where these numbers come from or other figures?

I have seen to many examples of younger people being disrespectful to the elderly. Did they forget these people fought in wars, lived through the depression and have more knowledge than they are given credit for? I understand that there are situations where older people are rude, but I think you should still respect your elders. What do you think can be done to close the gap between old and young??

You know I'm not knocking gay people at all! As a matter of fact I get along with them quite well because they're real and down to earth. But they have a lot of say on this website. I as a straight woman would just like to put in writing that I love you men! I love you men to death! For so many reasons! There are times I want to ring your necks but I always want to screw it right back on again. Not to mention a few other ways I like to..... well......you know...... But ladies tell me, why do you love men? Whether it be your husband, boyfriend or lover? I sum up describing my boyfriend as the Bomb! And I love my man very much! What's your feelings about your man or men in general? Can you sum it up in just a few words?
