I find alot of people do, especially if they've "encountered" the attitude they expect in other conversations with other people.

For example, an incident occurs involving two people of different race and its assumed race is a factor. Is it now? Does it have to be?

Sometimes when race "is a factor", the real issue are the attitudes each person assumes the other person has.
