I find alot of people do, especially if they've "encountered" the attitude they expect in other conversations with other people.

For example, an incident occurs involving two people of different race and its assumed race is a factor. Is it now? Does it have to be?

Sometimes when race "is a factor", the real issue are the attitudes each person assumes the other person has.

Perhaps, but I will not actually say them out loud, when you start running your mouth, that is when it becomes a problem. The "real" issue is keeping your mouth shut when you have something negative to say.

I try and respect other peoples views. If I find I don't agree with them I voice my opion. If they don't wish to respect my opion then I'll aviod the conversation.

for me it depends on how a person talks,I will always cynical when ever a person talks with confrontational intentions,i will make assumptions once that person is out of my site
