Reading, you retain more, and also have it readily available when in doubt...

I think that would depend on the person. I think someone mentioned that in their case the info stuck w/them longer when they read but some people have a hard time reading n soaking it in. So in my opinion I would say it depends on who is trying to acquire the knoweldge.

I also think that with educational programs (tv right?)...it's seems like it would take less consentration to focus and absorb the info and like someone else mentioned you could get more in a little time. Then again unless you are a speed reader : )

It may depend on your individual learning style and also if you have learning disabilities or not. Some learning disabilities make reading a difficult option for the learner. Learning styles vary with some people preferring visual, or auditory, kinetic (hands on) experiences.

It is generally agreed among educators that providing a variety of learning opportunities would be the best option. Therefore, if you can provide both.

I think it matters on your own learning style. Some people retain much more while watching a educational show. Others retain much more by reading. You will have to find this out for yourself. Personally I retain much more from watching an educational show.

It depends on the person's learning style.
Also, you need a third option - many people learn best through direct experience.
