I thought Standard German and Low German are more "clipt" and clearer, whilst High German in southern Germany is not as clear. And does Swiss German sound like German spoken in southern Germany, ie Munich?
Thanks

I speak english as a foreign language and saw these stranges sentences in an english course ; i would like you check my sentences and certify (or correct) them :
- They sold someone on an idea.
- She attends a staff meeting every monday.
- I spent my last dollars on plane tickets.
- As a child, i spent my time reading.
- I knew that while i preferred sitting and reading, my classmates would rather go and play.
Thank you in advance.

I have a series of Powerpoint slides in English. Each bullet on each slide is a short thought on a topic. I have notes about each bullet, also in English. I can readily use the notes and talk to each bullet but what I want is a person fluent in English and another language (either Spanish or Arabic) to use my Powerpoint slides and my notes and speak in that other language to each bullet. They could have ample preparation time. I'm not asking for a translation but rather just an informal paraphrasing. The topics are normal everyday life such as opening a checking account. My problem is that I don't know if what I want is difficult or not for this bilingual narrator. Opinions?

I have quite a good memory and put 100% into everything I take on. I am starting to learn Spanish, I know everyone is different but, if I have a private tutor and practice everyday for a couple of hours. How long do you think it would take me to learn to speak Spanish to a fairly good standard?
