I'm american so....... =)
I speak english as a foreign language and I saw these strange sentences in an english course; I would like for you to check my sentences and correct them if they need to be corrected:
-They gave someone an idea. (that's more practical... But I guess what you want to say is: THEY SOLD SOMEONE AN INDEA)
-She attends a staff meeting every monday. (most people say,.. "she goes to staff meetings every monday")
-I spent my last dollars on plane tickets. (most people say, "I spent my last few bucks on plane tickets".)
-As a child, I spent my time reading (GOOD!)
-I knew that while I preferred sitting and reading, my classmates would rather go and play. (good!)
=)
Your sentences all make sense..........but the first one was a little confusing. I just gave you more "practical" ways to say it. You know, the way you would say it in EVERYDAY life

I speak english as a foreign language and saw these strange sentences in an English course. I would like you check my sentences and certify (or correct) them :
- They sold someone on an idea.
- She attends a staff meeting every Monday.
- I spent my last dollars on plane tickets.
- As a child, I spent my time reading.
- I knew that while I preferred sitting and reading, my classmates would rather go and play.
Thank you in advance.

First I must say you write like a English teacher, not as a student. Very nicely done.
OK, as far as I can tell structure on your sentences is accurate. I might change the wording in this one though.
.
- I spent my last dollars on plane tickets. (I spent the last of my dollars on the plane tickets.)

#1 is all right
#2 -- Monday, not monday
#3 -- common usage would be "last dollar" not dollars, but it's all right
#4 -- As a child I spent my time reading (I, not i, and no comma)
#5 -- again, I, not i.
Excellent job, though. Just watch the capital letters.

2nd sentence - Monday is capitalized.
3rd and 4th sentences - I is always capitalized, not just at the start of a sentence.
Everything else looks right.
Edit: Last dollars is correct. You would spend your last dollar on something that cost a dollar or less.

They all look fine to me, except for a little capitalisation. (Monday, I).
"They sold someone on an idea" is a slightly odd way of putting things, but not wrong.
