It would be appricated if non-Irish people answered this. My sister is thinkin about callin her child Mairéad but i don't think people will be able to pronounce her name. She lives in Australia so i just want to see how people would prononce it

so many meanings...! when we awake in the morning why do we wake up? at a meeting why does a topic come up? why do we speak up?and why are officers up for election, and why is it up to the secretaryto write up a report. we call up our friends, and we brighten up a room, polish up we warm up we stand up and clean up. we lock up, and fix up the car. we stir up trouble, line up for tickets,work up an appetite,think up excuses, and be dressed up.we open up, we close up, sometimes mixed up girls put on make up and now i am up to the limit, if you dont like me lets kiss and make up xxxx

Dont be too harsh. I am new to spanish. These are menu item descriptions. If it does need a correction, I would love you for life if you pointed me in the right direction(corrected it)!

My 2 year old is no ttalking and his speach tharipist told me to teach him some signes so that he can learn to comunicate while he learns to talk. Does any one out there know of any web sight that can help me learn till I can get a good book.
I also have a friend that speeks signe but they live 12 hr away. so I do know some signes. ( I think that it also would be cool to be able to talk to them in there second language) I know it must be hard at a loud place when you can only read lips and no one will look right at you. any who signes for a learner in the hearing world. Where and free please

I want to say for my spanish oral:

A bad thing about me is that I get bored easily. A good thing about me is that I am non-judgemental. I am not quiet and not loud, in between. But, I am very sensitive!

If you only know how to say one sentance or something thats fine too. PLEASE DON'T USE TRANSLATORS!

Hi, I'm Brandon, I'm studying English since January, and I would like learning this language at 100%. I speak Spanish, because it is my native language.

And now, I have a question for you :

In Spanish, we use a phrase : "tener ganas de algo" ; for example:

Tengo ganas de jugar.
Tengo ganas de darte un beso.
Tengo ganas de comerme un helado.

I have been searching this phrase translated to English, but I have not been able to find it. Can you help me?

I want to see if this is common & why?

Some background. As babies, my brothers and I had a Spanish speaking, live-in Nanny for 3 years. I do not speak, & have not studied Spanish. I cannot participate in spanish conversations. I doubt our Nanny was teaching babies extensive Spanish :-) though she had pet names etc.

Years ago I worked with Hispanic coworkers who spoke Spanish & English. One day we were rushing through a project & though distracted, I responded to a joke one of the guys was telling. Everyone stopped & said "You understood that?" I had been focusing on our task, but heard the joke in English (& responded in English). They insisted he told the joke in Spanish

The 2nd time this happened I was being robbed. I was with 2 friends & we were held up at gunpoint. I was in shock but I heard the robbers say 'give me the keys" repeatedly. To this day my friends say they were speaking Spanish but I heard English

Anyone have similar experiences and know exactly why?
