I would like to learn Spanish Spanish not Latin American Spanish. I know that Rosetta Stone has it and it’s widely advertised everywhere but is it really that good? And of course if I Google Spanish learning software, search results are in the order of what software company paid to be on the top of the Google search. Same thing with reviews – Can’t tell if they are real or fake. . Also, if anybody can suggest good free websites for Spanish language, grammar & tips and any good books for Spanish grammar.

Thank You! ☺

I am a freshman and our teacher is making us learn and memorize GLR (greek and latin) root words. We have a quiz each week on a page of the packet she gave us with all of them. I am just wondering, is it necessary? What do i learn with it? If it has anything to do with spelling I dont think its really necessary, but i dont know. Any opinions?

I found the word for "Never"....
nunquam ADV at no time, never; not in any circumstances;

Which is correct because Never is an adverb in this sentence. I am having a very hard time finding the Verb/ without an object for Quit. (As in quit/give up/forsake/abandon)

I found the following possiblityies but I cannot verify them and I have not take any Latin classes yet to know for sure.

concedo : to concede, yield, allow, grant, withdraw, give up.
linquo: leave, quit, forsake.
despero : to have no hope, despair, give up.
deserere: forsake/abandon/give up.

I would also like to know if the obsolete letter "stigma" even has a pronounciation. I understand that "stigma" is a combination of sigma and tau, but I don't know if it has a special pronounciation. Does digamma sound like the English "w"? Thank you if you are able to help me understand how to pronounce these letters.

Native speakers of the english language have been given the short stick and it seems to have been getting worse.
illiteracy is so common these days but, on an academic level most people don't have a chance because, we are not taught the complexities on how to write essays to differing levels.
These skills need to be taught and these could be if they were covered in year 11 and 12.
I remember my higher education experiences. there were many instances where my ability to write was questioned. When I asked them why they did not help sholars become better writers?, They replied, " that is what we should have learnt at high school".
Hang on ... but we are not taught these skills so, where are we supposed to learn these skills. I know ... one day i will trip over, hit my head on a rock and "boom", i can write a perfect essay .
Tell me your story

Does anyone else love scottish accents? I just think they are so pretty and they are just interesting I guess. Je ne sais quoi. Although that's not my question. I want to know if there are any other accents (when speaking english) that are even remotely similar to scottish, discounting irish. Even though many people think that irish accents sound similar I think they are still very different. Just curious...Thanks a bunch if you can think of anything.....

An accidental encounter happing to me when I was a high school student has been deeply engraved in my memory. It not only changed my dull life but also let me meet a girl who is worth me spending my entire lifetime to care and protect. To this day, I always feel that my heart is replete with happiness when looking back on my happy past. Now, I want to share my love story with you and I hope you, my fellow, can also get the happiness that belongs to yourself.
That day, after borrowing some of my favorite books in the library, I walked down the stairs in a good mood. All of a sudden, I casually glanced at a beautiful face flashing in front of me. It was not until more closely looking at her face that I found that she was a stunning girl with a flaming red hair and pale skin and her beauty was beyond description. That girl’s attractive face like an angel and slim size caught my attention. My heart full of passion had flown toward her; as a result, I failed to pay attention to other things only looking at her all the time. However, unfortunately, because of much attention, I didn’t watch where I was going and slipped on an orange-peel. I fell down from the stairs to the ground so that I got the severe scrapes. With the torturing wound, I started to cry out loudly. Suddenly, that charming girl rushed toward me in no time and carefully bandaged my serious wound with her warm hands. At that time, I felt a great deal of euphoria and the pain of my scrapes seemed to disappear in a flash.
That event let me get acquainted with that girl. As if there was a fatal red thread that tightly fastened our hearts. Over time, after a decade, that girl and I have become a couple and we have a happy family that everyone envies very much.
-------------Please correct my grammar.
If you have special and good words or phrases, please add them to my composition.
Thank you!!

¡Buen provecho!
