Hello, I'm from Argentina and I'm on holiday here in london. I've got a friend ( female) from england who told me I was a "TRICKY PERSON". She explaind me what does it mean but I didn't really understand her. She told me that means, when a person doesn't pretend to be funny but for the way he (or she) says the things is funny ( she told something like that). By the way a don't know whether was TRICKY but it was something like that ( maybe treeck, dricky or something like that). One more thing more, she is from the souht of england and I don't know if it's an idiom from there but anyway I hope you know what does it mean even if you aren;t from there ( if it is). I know my english's quiet foreigner because of my writting but CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE!!!! AND TELL ME WHAT DOES THAT WORD MEAN? I'd be really grateful. It'd be better if you speak spanish. thanks. saludos. jaja

We normally use ''too + adjective'' to talk about things we don't like e.g. There's too much trrafic on the street or It's too cold out there. Now,is it correct to say "I like too much sunshine in the winter''? or ''I like too much rain in the spring''?

School cafeterias produced home cooked meals straight from the kitchen.

I got "La cafeteria de escuela cocinaba las comidas directamente de la cocina."

I'm just having a problem with wording "straight from the kitchen"

Thank you!

In the movie RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, there is a scene where Ernie the guy who runs the mortuary is looking out the window at the pouring rain. He says outloud a phrase that for years I never understood. I think it may be latin?? I will spell it phonetically but I don't know exactly how to spell it...

"It's coming down like a DWEEDIN SOY DOT"
That is what it sounds like and spelled phonetically. If anyone can translate that please do so, like I say I think it sounds latin to me. Thanks!

Right now I speak English and Spanish, and I'm learning Italian. My interest is in the sociolinguistics of ALL of these languages, but I'm not sure what I can do with that. I've been looking online to try and see what kind of careers that would open up to me, but all I can find is the generic list of every job in existence where it would be beneficial to speak another language. Can anyone help me out with some careers that actually FOCUS on sociolinguistics? If possible, something I could do using multiple languages? If it's not too much to ask I'm also wondering what kind of interships, etc, I should be looking for. Thanks so much!! :)

I have been thinking of learning a foreign lanquage (for leisure), but can't make up my mind. I like Italian food, but France is our closest neighbour (I'm English).

One thing that has put me off in the past is the accent, and thinking I have to be perfect, but as I try and remind myself, do we object to their accents when they speak English. Do they mind an anglicised pronunciation, as long as we try?

I am retired and looking to achieve something diferent this year, and maybe travel in the future.
