Languages - January 2007

By learning Latin first, will it become easier to learn French, Italian, Spanish, and other languages? If i missed some, could you inform me on what they are?

BTW, i'm going into law and i think it's mandatory to learn Latin because of all the Latin-based terms.

I've heard that national newscasters are trained to speak in a Northeast Ohio accent because it is the clearest and most correct form of English. Is there any truth to this?

lived in middle east last year... picked up some arabic, would like to learn more.. there does'nt seem to be anything local i could go and learn... maybe some online translation and i'll teach myself, any suggestions ? please.

I saw this many years ago and have used the English version but the English doesn't have the ooomph that the Latin does. Roughly, the English says, "But who will watch the watchers?"

I took 4 years of Italian in high school, so I have a basis of the language. I would like to become fluent, and unfortunately cannot travel to Italy to immerse myself in the language. Anyone have any suggestions on any other resource I can use to really learn the language?
