I understand 'fruit' and 'cake' but I'm not sure of the rules for joining them.

Two definitions:
The first is a crazy or nutty person.
The second is a cake, with dried fruits, such as cherries and raisins and such as a major portion of the ingredients. It is a very heavy cake, and many people do not like it. It's a quite old recipe as well.

MY FIRST LANGUAGE IS SPANISH!! my guy friend got really up sad when a girl call him like that,(He's white) and when i hear somebody call another person fruitcake especially a man, it sounds like they want to call him a homo,but don't dare. Did someone call you a fruitcake?? lol Happy New Year!!

It depends how the word is used. If someone says, "we're having fruitcake for dinner", then it's obvious they're having the actual food. But if they say, "That guy is such a fruitcake" then it's a negative connotation for a person.

a cake with fruit. They eat it around XMAS, or give it to an enemay. Ppl say it's disgusting.
