School cafeterias produced home cooked meals straight from the kitchen.

I got "La cafeteria de escuela cocinaba las comidas directamente de la cocina."

I'm just having a problem with wording "straight from the kitchen"

It's fairly well. You miss a word in "de LA escuela".
The word "cocinaba" could be replaced by "preparaba"
but the syntax comes wrong. The best way might be:
LA CAFETERIA DE LA ESCUELA SERVIA LAS COMIDAS DIRECTAMENTE DE LA COCINA.

"Straight" in this case means "directly"

It's an idiomatic usage.
