A kanji book just shows you all the kanji starting from simple kanji to more complicated. I could just start from the beginning and learn them. But then i need to learn vocabulary , and i have a big list of vocab already and it's written in Kanji( verbs, etc). I'm kind of confused on how to approach learning . If i study single kanji from the kanji book i have, and then i also study vocab and it has kanji.. so it's like learning kanji from 2 different things: Vocab containing kanji, and individual kanji. So i'm like doing double work?

should i just learn the kanji by working on the vocab and looking up the kanji found in the kanji compounds that make up the vocabulary term... or should i leave off the vocab lists, and study kanji individually from the kanji book?

Like I am translating this passage to Arabic and the title is "pulp friction". I know this doesn't have much meaning but I know the writer used it because it is similar to "pulp fiction". How do I say that? Is it called an "anagram"?. Is this the anagram ?
And by the way , what does "pulp friction" mean, if it means anything. The passage is about the people who cut logs of trees in order to make paper and pulp and how that affects the environment.

and how is ur dad by the way ?

i think this is in italian. Please do not just type this into a translator and give me a piece of text that makes no sense.

Talking about job hunting, is it better to speak one foreign language very well, almost like a native speaker, or to have a conversational level in two or three foreign languages?

I know the ideal situation would be to be fluent in several languages, but there's no time for everything!

Please share your opinions and experiences on this. Thanks!

I do good in basic conversation. it's pretty good and i can speak it close to fluently in basic conversation. I mean its not that basic i know quite a bit, since i studied 4 years. But , start going away from the basic and into subjects in which i have no experience and i don't understand nothing. Like i listened to some podcasts in iTunes in japanese and some of them i could understand, like when it was a nice girl speaking clearly and abut some fun thing, i could understand it, but then i turned to a BUSINESS related podcasts and i could not understand at all.

I know it's obvious that i wouldn't understand the business one. But so my question is, without going to japan or having Japan friends willing to talk to you in japanese, how do you get good?
I could listen to business podcasts, but that doesn't help cause i will never understand no matter how i try. They have too much vocab dependent on culture and i never live in japan so it's impossible to know.

In villages, we can find strong women working as stone breakers and sand diggers and carrying the stones and sand to their yard, while weak men work as kite makers. In cities, besides male lifters, we can also find female lifters. On the contrary, there are also men who are as *graceful* as female dancers.

I've heard a lot about those Rosetta Stone things, but it's so expensive! I've looked at other books, and nothing looks good. I work full time and don't really have the time to take a local college class (they are rarely offered anyways) so what are my options for learning a new language?

I dont mean a shy person who actually talks alot or reads alot and has a abroad vocabulary. i mean a shy person like me, age 27, whose language skills are so bad cause he never opens his mouth for years and also doesn't read books often or write essays. Just the act of listening to Podcasts, can that help in any way?

I'm from America and not good at English, not fluent because i never had a social life or any friends and never spoke. i spoke but usually it has been simple YES, NO, and minor little phrases.

I am planning a trip to Morocco and I have some CDs from the library for Egyptian Arabic and Eastern Arabic. I think Eastern Arabic means Arabic from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. I wonder if either of these dialects will be useful in Morocco where they speak Maghreb Arabic, or am I better off learning French?
