I am planning a trip to Morocco and I have some CDs from the library for Egyptian Arabic and Eastern Arabic. I think Eastern Arabic means Arabic from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. I wonder if either of these dialects will be useful in Morocco where they speak Maghreb Arabic, or am I better off learning French?

Moroccans will definitely understand you because the Egyptian accent is widely known in the Middle East (because of TV and music) but you will have a very hard time understanding them, Moroccan accent is the hardest from all Arabic accents... You need to listen to that accent before you go. They're pretty fast speakers. I think Eastern Arabic usually means Saudi and the Gulf area, and north is where Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and Jordan are. Maybe you are better off learning French

Moroccan Arabic is a flavor all its own. I don't believe MOroccan and Egyptian Arabic are mutually intelligable (Either speaker can understand the other.)

Morocco has a large French language influence, so maybe French may be the way to go, just to be sure. At least someone would be able to speak to you, instead of you taking the chance of not being able to be understood by anyone.

Moroccans can easily understand any kind of Arabic but other Arabs can't understand Moroccans
I think it's better for u to learn " the ARABIC" or French, it's really hard to understand them cuz it's like a mix of Arabic and barbarian language ..

They won't understand you. Magribi Arabic (or Western Arabic) is a different language. It is a related language to Egyptian Arabic, but it is like English and Dutch. They are related, but we can't understand one another.
