Hi there I live in Gibraltar which is just separated from Spain by a frontier, many of us go into Spain every day as like my brother many Gibraltarians live there. You will be able to see signs in English in airports and maybe restaurants as many Brits live in the coast and own restaurants but not on the main road or highways.

I wouldn't be surprised. Keep in mind that Gibraltar has been majorly influenced by Britain and was (I don't know if it still is) a British entity for quite some time. I know a couple of Brits who live in Southern Spain as well. I'm guessing that there is a large number of Anglophones in the region, so the signs probably should work accordingly.

I lived in Spain for over a year and have seen road signs in English at Airports but nowhere else on the road. However most shops will advertise in English or what is supposed to be English.

Well I have been to southern Spain many times and all road signs, etc. are all in Spanish only. But signs outside shops and bars in tourist areas are sometimes in both languages.

It is very possible since there are many vacation spots for people from the north of Europe (UK, Sweden, Finland, Germany) in the south of Spain, mainly in Costa del Sol, Ibiza, Mallorca.

Probably...I would n't be surprised. The English hate signs in other languages, even in other people's countries. They are ,even now complaining that Welsh is above English on the roadsigns in Wales...duh!..it is our country. What would their reaction be if Chinese or French people complained about the monolingual English signs in England? I can guess!
