I dont mean a shy person who actually talks alot or reads alot and has a abroad vocabulary. i mean a shy person like me, age 27, whose language skills are so bad cause he never opens his mouth for years and also doesn't read books often or write essays. Just the act of listening to Podcasts, can that help in any way?

I'm from America and not good at English, not fluent because i never had a social life or any friends and never spoke. i spoke but usually it has been simple YES, NO, and minor little phrases.

well, some podcasts are interesting, and they may help. TV and radio may too, but I guess podcasts can give you added knowledge in a specialist subject. the more you know about something, the more you'll have to say about it.

do you have radio free or BBC world in your area? If so, you can listen to the radio too. (the English is more standard on the radio).

Your language skills don't seem that bad anyway. I understood your question right away.

Don't worry about people who read books often or write essays. When we compare ourselves to others, it makes us shy.

you could try making an anonymous podcast, to practice speaking.

Another way to get shy people to talk is to learn a foreign language.

anyway, your English is better than a lot of 27 year old English speakers, so don't worry about it.

I guess it depends on the quality of the podcast, try to listen to ones in "correct" English (no slang). I think the best way for you to improve your speaking is by reading (again, "correct" English). Good luck!
