Hi, I'm learning the Korean language, and I'd like to get the Pimsleur companies CDs (there are three levels). However, I feel what they are charging is ridiculous, and as I'm a poor student I can't afford ridiculous. Know of where I can get all three levels for less than $100 ?

When I was just a little girl, my family came to the U.S.A from Portugal, and we learned to speak English just fine, with the exception of our accents. My parents told my siblings and I that our accents would fade with time and we would speak just like all the other American children. I am in my 20's now. My siblings (I believe all of them) have indeed faded out their accents for the most part. I have not.

I'm just wondering why my accent has not diminished, though most of my family's accents have.

I am a Filipino. I always practice & research about the three English native speakers' accents:
1) American - it is very common here in the Phils. & we Filipinos are used to it...
2) British - I always watch BBC World & Bus Stop, plus I'm a Harry Potter Fan
3) Australian - ABC news, Wicked Science, etc.. and I always watch Iya Villania speak

WHY IS IT VERY HARD TO SPEAK W/ AN AUSTRALIAN ACCENT! I know some stuffs like:
heller (hello), sir (so) their 'ow' bcums 'er' . And I also heard a Fil-Oz saying "KIRK FLIRT" - Coke Float
die (day), etc..
I am used to Brit & Am accent but it is bloody hard to speak w/ an OZ accent well...

I practice with my Spanish speaking friends, that live both near me and abroad, but it doesn't seem like I really have enough opportunity. I do the normal "improving in a language" stuff, like watching movies w/o subtitles, listening to music, reading newspapers, etc; and I do these things every day.

I especially need to work on my aural comprehension and my ability to respond in Spanish. I no longer have to translate in my head, but it seems like I'm not really improving much as a speaker, or at least in only barely perceptible steps (like vocabulary, which is certainly important, but not everything).

Ideally, of course, I would live in a Spanish speaking country for a whie, but that's not feasible for me right now.

What tips do y'all have that might help??

I don't understand the cultural obsession fo this word. It's easily one of the most overused words. Do people use the word to demonstrate that they know its meaning? How annoying!
