Thanksgiving

This is the 3rd year without her at every holiday...Christmas included. I am upset about this, since he never shows up at my husband and my house...except to get his car fixed at our car dealership.
The few times he has been at our home, I have cooked for him, gave he the beer he wanted and been as graciouse and fun too.
My daughter brings home a 12 pack of a different beer to put in our refrigerator. I asked if I could try one bottle...NO. That's for a party that I'm going to tonite. How do I handle this situation.

I work retail and to us the day after Thanksgiving is just about the most busiest workday of the year.

It seems to me that if this is the case and people know full well that the malls, stores etc. are going to be packed with people and they'll be waiting in long lines to pay and not to mention the parking. . . . it goes on-and-on. WHY OH WHY don't they stay home and just relax on their day off? (IF they have the day off) Who really wants to bother with the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping at it's worse?

Are YOU one of these people who "fight the crowds" to shop on the day after Thanksgiving?

This year my family will be moving the week of thanksgiving and I want to do something special to make it less stressful. And, I want to hear about other people's traditions, too.

Im having my family and my husbands family over for thanksgiving. there will be about 30 people total. I know its crazy, but thats a separate issue. My prob is, do you think it is tackier to have paper plates (I will get the heavy duty ones) or a bunch of mix-matched plates. I have 4 or 5 sets of dishes but they are all serving for four, six or eight. They dont even come close to matching each other. Also, how much turkey will I need?

HI,
I'm too ill to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Does any one know of a good list of restaurants that serve a buffet on Thanksgiving day? we are not rich people so, something that we can afford. I checked out some sites but the places were too expensive & there was not much of a choice. we are willing to stay in the Chicago area or North & West suburbs. Thanks for your help. I hope that everyone has a nice holiday too! Judy K.

Who goes out shopping on "Black Friday?" Personally I shop online, crowded malls start to make me feel claustrophic after a while.

Do you have any family traditions that you do besides getting together for dinner?

Last year we started to deep fry the turkey and have more of a cajon style Thanksgiving. I'll never go back to the bland old Turkey again. ; ) Have you ever changed your traditional dinner...just to have it more exciting?

Many people eat out on Thanksgiving, including myself (closest relatives several states away!). Do you see this as diminishing the meaning and significance of Thanksgiving?

Please share your plans for Thanksgiving Day.

Our family goes camping every year for Thanksgiving. We all make one dish for Thanksgiving Day. This year I want to make an appetizer or dessert but it has to be something that you can make while camping or something that can be made before hand (it would need to store well either in a cooler or dry storage).

I am looking for something different for my Thanksgiving buffet. Different but practical gets the 10 points.
