For government and some other workplaces (banks, private business, some stores and restaurants) yes. For some others no. Just depends on where you work.

For most businesses Thanksgiving is a holiday.
Hospitals are open 24 hours a day, everyday of the year.
Retail stores, pharmacies and (of course) grocery stores are open on Thanksgiving.

Yes, as a rule it is, but it depends on what your job is. Many retail stores are open on Thanksgiving. Years ago, everything was shut down on Thanksgiving, but as retailers became more and more greedy and competitive, they went business as usual.

Sure is. Some people end up with Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun off and can travel to relatives to visit. Some essential services require people to work (hospitals, police, fire, etc.). Most people go back to work on Friday.

Depends on the job. Most grocery stores, gas stations and some stores (walmart) are open. Fire, police and hospital staff work, too.

For most jobs it is a holiday. The exceptions are retail - convenience stores, some grocery stores.

Depends on the Companies - my spouse gets the day off or he can work - he doesn't get holiday pay - just vacation pay!@
