Im having my family and my husbands family over for thanksgiving. there will be about 30 people total. I know its crazy, but thats a separate issue. My prob is, do you think it is tackier to have paper plates (I will get the heavy duty ones) or a bunch of mix-matched plates. I have 4 or 5 sets of dishes but they are all serving for four, six or eight. They dont even come close to matching each other. Also, how much turkey will I need?

Personally I hate mix-matched plates. I would much rather eat off paper or plastic. The important thing is you are inviting these people into your home. They should be greatful so do what you think is best and have a happy holiday.
(Also.....less clean up....you go girl)

You will need TWO twenty-two pound turkeys or one fifty pound gobbler and good luck with that one! LOL! That should be enough for two servings a person. You should absolutely use paper plates (nice ones with a thanksgiving or fall theme) for that many people. My next piece of advice to you is have some of the people that are close to you bring a dish, drinks or desert. I am sure they won't mind and it would be a lot cheaper for you in the end. The cost of the turkeys alone will be high. I also suggest you cajun fry your turkeys, it only takes like 30 minutes to do and they are sooooo yummy. Good luck and Happy Turkey Day!

I think that it would be fine to use paper plates! I don't think anyone will be worried about what the food is on, just the food! Besides, they may need the paper plate to take some food home! If you like find some with a little decoration on it!

Use paper plates or buy matching ones; mismatching ones are kind of tacky.
Probably three or four turkeys.

Go to the dollar store, they have pretty Thanksgiving day plates, with napkins and place settings to match. The best part - you can throw them all out when your done! PRICELESS lol
