This questions stems from an answer I gave and an email I received from a contact I think is Muslim. He quoted the quran as it say something to the effect of "don't keep a woman from the mosque even if the hour is midnight". He says that non-Muslims are allowed inside the mosque and if not allowed in then that is because of the communities rules and not the quran. I am curious to know how many different communities will not allow entrance to a non-Muslim. Also please tell me if indeed the quran says this or in your opinion is that surah only in regards to Muslim women. Thanks for your replies.

Alhamdulillah Yahoo! has finally included us hijabis into the mix and added a hijab for our avatars!! :-D
http://360.yahoo.com/profile-bvjSBa45er9FcrTRLi8_QS_aH5b_Kw--
If you want to add one to yours, go to accessories and select scarves under your avatar edit screen. They only have one beige boring one, but at least we have one! So to make this a question, do you think we should contact Yahoo! and thank them for including us?

I believe I will!

Everyone plz give me your own definition of "haram"...thanks

I define "haram" like this...
Haram is something that...
1.makes you forget about Allah,
2.takes you away from his path,
3.makes you forget about the real life(hereafter)
4.makes you feel that this worldly life is so beautiful

Allah said in The Quran " i only created Jinn and man to worship me"
so, i believe things like " love"(attraction to the opposite gender) is haram too(including loving your own wife/husband).Because it wil never benifit me in the hereafter, since its not a form of worship. And it makes you forget about Allah and hereafter.Noone is worthy of getting more attention then Allah!

(non-muslims, plz dont answer this question, thanks)

jelleba and/or hijab. Do people stare at you when you are in public? Has anyone done something to you, your spouse or someone you personally know, just because they knew or assumed you were Muslim. If so did it happen before 9/11, has it gotten worse since 9/11. Have any of you actually feared for your or your spouse's safety?

I dont mean zakat, i meant....zadak? I dont know how to spell it...in hebrew it is tzadaka, and its similar in arabic. It's just when you give money to a person on the street who asks for it, basically. In Judaism, according to my rabbi before i converted (obviously, lol), you are required to give SOMETHING to anyone who asks for money or food.....she said that it is good even if it is a "dried up prune."
My mother was wondering if it was the same in islam, and i'd like to answer her, lol =)
thanks!

So you're lawfully married in Islam. And you get divorced if it doesn't work out? But it counts as a divorce. I assume the divorce isn't the same as it is in the West...

Can you explain this to me. I don't know too much about it but it'd be interesting to find out.

Asalam Alaikum
I know it Ramadan you are supposed to try and read the whole Quran, basically a Juz a day. Is there any prescribed or recommended reading outside of Ramadan? I try to read a least 2 Juz a week, but if there is something that is Sunnah to do I would prefer to do it that way.

Asalamualaikum.

There is a certain person, this person is a close relative of mine. She is kind of two-faced. For a few days we'll be all nice and friendly but then after a while she goes and backbites about me. If she doesn't like me, then that doesn't bother me but what does bother me is that when she backbites then other people start treating me differently.
What is the best thing to do? I can't avoid her becuz she is a close relation.
