what are some of you Xmas day traditions

2006-11-07 07:29:31 · 11 answers · asked by Anonymous

I'm a U.S. soldier deployed in Iraq with a wonderful woman waiting for me back home. We will be apart this Xmas and I wanted to get her something really special. Looking for something I can order online and have sent to her. I've thought about some nice jewelry but she's a a collegiate athlete and not much of the stereotypical girly-girl type. Also she is a Canadian attending school in the U.S. so maybe something that a Canadian girl would appreciate? Thanks to all who reply.

Pretty soon I'll be off Christmas shopping, but the problem is I spent loads of money this month (I'm not really sure what on) so I can't afford to buy anything expensive.

MY friends are all 14, and all quite girly. There are 5 of them I need to buy things for. We've agreed that we won't spend too much on one another, but all the same I'm having trouble finding something nice to give them.

Any ideas?

Oh and I have an allowance of £40 per month, but I don't want to spend all that.

My son will be 11 and a half months at Christmas, his first christmas ever, and I want to get him a santa suit to wear for Christmas but I can't find a really good one with a hat and at least a print-on of boots and a belt, and has the fur trim. Any help please! I could use some advice!!

My family has grown so much that we have decided to do gift exchange and draw names but the problem is that even though it is a large family we only have three families invovled. When we got to thinking about drawing names we realized that 9 out of 10 times we are going to draw our families name (like I draw my brothers name) and we don't want that to happen. It is my two grandparents, (2) my brother and family (3) my parents and sister (3) me and my husband (2) my aunt and her family (5) so there is 15 of us. Can anybody help us decide this? My mom had said something about the white elephant game but she said there are two many different ages. We don't want to do the chinese auction either. If you have any ideas that would be great. Thanks.

I've seen on the news today that the Church of England are slamming Royal Mail for not having predominantly "christian" scenes on their stamps this year. Lots of people celebrate christmas but not necessarily because they are christians or practice that belief system.

I celebrate christmas because its a great time of year to spend with your family & show each other how much you care,I don't celebrate it because I'm christian & I don't see christmas as the day for Jesus's birth as I do not follow a religion.

What does christmas mean to you? And do you agree that the christmas stamps should only show christian images, considering they are used by all faiths & ethnicities?

I went to the mall yesterday and they have Christmas stuff up already, and have since Halloween. What's with that? I think Jesus would be disappointed in us.

Your brother's girlfriend who has two kids of her own they've been together for a year. She likes movies that's all you specifically know about her. Any ideas? You want to get her something because you got her boyfriend something who happens to be your brother?

Any nice but not too big and bulky gift ideas for 5-6 year old twins?

I've seen this done twice. The first was a real eyeopener when I saw it in early Oct many yrs ago. Instead of the usual Nativity set or Santa in the yard, this one house had a Nativity set and lit up turkey in the yard. In the front window was both a decorated tree and a lit menorah. The front porch had lit jackolanterns. They even had colored lights on the outside of the house. The only thing missing was the easter bunny.

The second time was a different house in a different location. These people even included the bunny. And the house was lit brighter than the Griswolds.

Are there other people who do this or is it a super rare occasion where someone goes overboard?

If your a Christian and use the word Xmas, your just stupid, why would you want to take Christ out of the word?

OTHERWISE, for you others:: It is our Holiday. Christmas is for Christians as the name suggest. CHRISTmas. Okay. So dont take out Christ and put an X. Its disrespectful to our religion and Holiday. You wouldnt do stuff like that to Jews or other religions.

ALSO:: I am sick of people who are not Christians, celebrating Christmas., without celebrating Christ's birth of coure. They just celebrate with Santa's and snowmen.....
But it's just like, Get your own holiday!! Please.
