Christmas has branched out from a religious celbration to a secular holiday celbrating winter. I bet most of the xmas songs sing about Santa and not Jesus.

The secular radio stations where I am from mix in Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Song with the rest of their Christmas music. It is not intended to be discriminatory but dependant on the audience. Radio is about what the record companies are pushing. It is difficult if not impossible to hear songs that they don't want played.

If you're inclined, why not petition for someone to start a Jewish radio station so maybe there will be more exposure in the future? Or check out www.live365.com which has tons of music that you will never hear on mainstream radio.

Here's the answer of answers. We "Christians" have commercialize Christmas so much that we have inundated, saturated and just plan worn out the once loved and cherished Christmas favorites. I do however, still love the Christmas hymns we sing during the holiday season.

It seems that Hanukkah has been kept as a sacred religious observance. Don't feel bad that you don't hear Hanukkah songs on the radio, enjoy the wonderful time you share with your family during that sacred time of the year.

The reason why they don't play Hanukkah songs is because radio stations play what is popular. The majority of Americans will be celebrating Christmas and not Hanukkah. If they don't play what the majority of people want to hear, they lose listeners. If they lose listeners, then people don't hear advertisements on the radio. If the advertisements don't get heard, the businesses pull their ads off the radio. If the ads get pulled off the radio, the radio station loses money. And God knows we don't want radio stations to lose money over a little religious diversity.

Also, our country was founded on Christian traditions and not Jewish traditions. Us Americans are self centered and ethnocentric, plain and simple.

Do you think maybe you're listening to the wrong station? Of COURSE they play hannukah songs on the radio, but on the station that plays hannukah songs, not the one that plays christmas songs!

Though come to think of it I have noticed that they don't play any classical music on the MTV....kind of annoying, too...

What the heck is wrong with you. Girl if you want Jewish holiday songs then sing them to yourself, or better yet start a radio station. I'm sure you will have a lot of listeners.

Well, technically, Jingle Bells isn't a Christmas song. It was made to describe sleighs and horses, nothing Christmas related whatsoever, really. And yes, it IS really annoying when they play it after Halloween. I mean, can't they at least wait until Thanksgiving first?
