In the fifties when i was a small child it was the sights and smells, the lights and the snow. in the sixties our school nativity, watching one of the three kings throw up on stage and the sight of a dead turkey hung up over a barrel in the shed waiting for my dad to divest it of its feathers (apart from one memorable year when he hit the beer too early and came in all scratched and bloody to announce to my mum "ok, i've plucked and stuffed it all you have to do is catch it and kill it") in the seventies, singing carols in the pub with my mates too pissed to care, midnight mass and going to all your friends houses on xmas morning for a drink. the eighties,.....more or less the same. The nineties up to date.........Sadly that coke advert with all the trucks....."Holidays are coming , Holidays are coming........

When the malls start pushing their seasonal items, the city decorates the streets and the courthouse with decorations, and usually our first measurable snowfall. Also, the day after Thanksgiving when people wait in line to save 10% on a television at their favorite retailer. And don't forget the playing of hours ontop of hours of endless Christmas music.
