Pretty soon I'll be off Christmas shopping, but the problem is I spent loads of money this month (I'm not really sure what on) so I can't afford to buy anything expensive.

MY friends are all 14, and all quite girly. There are 5 of them I need to buy things for. We've agreed that we won't spend too much on one another, but all the same I'm having trouble finding something nice to give them.

Any ideas?

Oh and I have an allowance of £40 per month, but I don't want to spend all that.

Quite girly? Well.....here's a few ideas.

Lovely nail polish and an invite to a manicure party, you supply some snacks, great lotions and soaks and do each others nails.

Make each one a special photo frame and include a great picture of you all together.

Make each one a cool necklace or pair of earrings---I'm assuming they have bead shops in England.

Buy some wool and host a learn to knit party---great scarves and easy to make.

Make some homemade lip balms or lotions--easy to find recipes on the web.

Make each one a memory jar where you place your favorite memories or compliments on slips of paper you then fold or roll into curls. Decorate the jars and give as gifts. Very special.

Bake some fabulous brownies, make some fudge, anything chocolate and wrap beautifully.

Make each a beautiful Christmas ornament.

Host a fantastic tea party with little sandwiches, scones, desserts and tea and put on your favorite chick flick.

A wonderful pen is a great gift, something fun and beautiful to use.

Go to the thrift shops and scout out great one of a kind bargains.

Good luck Hon' and Merry Christmas!

I want to start off by saying that I am in the same boat that you are in. I have about 20 + friends to buy for in my school let alone about 30 other people outside of school. (My mom thankfully is helping buy gifts for thekids I babysit and family friends). I have around $500 (from babysitting), try babysitting you get lots of money. (Sorry I don't have the symbol for your currency) What I am doing is I am starting my shopping early. (This thursday in fact since we have two days off of school for a the NJ Teacher's Convention) Since I babysit I will be getting more money as time progresses. Do you have any holidays or events in November or early December that would allow you to shop sales? In Amercia we have Black Friday. It gets the name Black Friday since it is the day after Thanksgiving (which is always a Thursday) and that day there are really good disocunts in stores, the "Black" part comes into play since the stock market raises millions and billions of dollars and gets further into the balck area (meaning further out of debt.
If there are any sales like that definatley take advantage of them. Another idea is to do secret Santas that would allow you to only buy a gift for one person. Then for the other people you don't have make them cookies and give them a Christmas card. Gift cards is another good idea. Try talking to your frineds and see if you can agree on a limit.

I hope this helps.

Merry Christmas! (Happy Christmas)

Sara

Ps. I hope it all goes well, try to add info to your question after you buy the gifts I am curious to see what you are going to get. I am also looking for thingsto get right now too)

You can purchase some cheap t-shirts and some iron on letters from wal-mart then iron on some thing like "friends" or "queen bee" or even just an iron on patch.
Then take pics of each other in them and put them in some 99 cent frames.
I'm not sure where you live but here in Oceanside California they have a t-shirt shop that sells t shirts at 3 for $5 . Then you can cut a slit in the side and tie it, or cut the collar off so they hang off the shoulder. or cut it all the way down on one side then make little holes all the way down and use the extra material to make knots all the way down you can cut one sleeve off. There is so much you can do to a t-shirt, but the iron ons make it personal.

Boots have got some really good gifts which are buy 3 for the price of two (loads of hair and make-up stuff).
If you want to be more personal/ creative. Buy 5 funky boxes and fill them with cool samples, lip gloss, cool pair of pants from top shop.
Good luckx

Make something yourself: Buy your own beads and make matching bracelets or necklaces they can wear. Or buy an accessory like a scarf or gloves which you can also personalize with jewels or beads. Or you can start a group journal, binded in a nice hardcover book where you can all share your pictures, memories, etc. If you girls don't have your ears pierced yet, maybe you can treat them to get their ears pierced at the local mall. Or get them each a stationary set.

a secret santa is always a good idea, put a spending limit on your gifts, say between £5 and £10, places like superdrug do loads of small, well priced gifts, or you could go check out some high street stores, most of them are having sales now, you could pic up a really stunning top or a bag ect ect for a brilliant price!!

Good luck...

Here in the US they have Dollar stores. I'm sure you have a UK equivalent. You can get a couple of small things in a basket for each girl. But I have to say that I really like the secret Santa thing.

Why don't you do a Secret Santa - put all your names in a hat, pull one out each and just buy a present for that one person? That way each of you gets something good without you all having to spend too much money.

Why don't you put all of your names in a hat and each of you chooses a name, and buys a present for a set amount say £10 for just that person, it should be a secret who bought what . We do this at work where there's 12 of us girls !
