Where do I start? Ok so we invited my 4 yr old son's friend and his parents over for Thanksgiving and they were delighted to come join us. I asked the mom before hand if she and her family were allergic to anything or can't eat any foods. She said they can't chocolates or drink sodas but everything else they can eat. 2 days, we made a lot of food and cleaned up our place to make it comfortable for the guests. When the guests arrived, I welcomed the parents by hugging them and when I hugged the dad, the dad just stood there and didn't hug me back for some reason. This made me feel weird so I let it go.
I asked if they would like anything to drink or eat and they all ate (only a few foods) but the mom didn't want to eat anything or drink anything at all. I soon found out before I served her turkey that she didn't eat meat and she was a vegetarian. I wondered why she didn't tell me beforehand that she couldn't eat meat, so I could fix her something else besides turkey. Continued.....

I'm taking part in a Secret Santa gift exchange, with a limit of $20. I would like to give a wine-themed gift, and so will spend $20 on cute coasters, corkscrew, etc. I have a bottle of wine that I will never drink (I'm not a wine-drinker), so I would like to give the bottle of wine with the gift - but then the actual value of the gift would be over $20, even though I only spent $20.

So what's proper Secret Santa etiquette? Can the value of the gift be over the set amount, if I can give part of it at no cost to me? Or does the total value have to be $20?

I guess a related question would be if you can buy something at a great sale price (say, a $50 item for $20) - is that fair game for a Secret Santa gift?

Did you/your parents tell of the truth or did you/they find out from someone else.

Do you spend the holidays going to both sides of the family? Or do you just stay home with your immediate family instead?

I only went to one outlet that we have to pass to get home from up north.. (ralph lauren, coach, gap, oldnavy, rue 21, eddie bower , catiers, carters kids, etc.) Anyone shop at the mall, outlets, boutiques, lots of places?! I dont know how people do that! It's probably hard to find a parking spot!

Everyone I know gets their trees the weekend after Thanksgiving and their's stays alive through Christmas. Ours usually dies or loses it's green early. Is there a certain tree that lasts longer? We have the tree stand that requires a hole be drilled in the bottom of the tree trunk and we have them drill the hole at the tree farm so it will be centered. If we could somehow keep the drilled out area wet on our trip back home, would that help? Our home is about a 30 minute drive from the farm and of course we have to get into the house with the tree. I would say it's usually in water within an hour of being cut. Any real and helpful advice would be appreciated. Please don't even try to help me if you haven't ever had a "live" Christmas tree.
TIA!

The Quran says ''let there be no compulsion in religion'' so it's clear what the islamic stance on this is. Why do many Muslims insist on making islam look barbaric by giving false information like ''those that leave islam must be stoned to death''. How would the Muslims feel if all the Christians or all the Jews killed anyone of them that converted to Islam ?

note: this is not a debate about whether or not you think killing apostates is a part islamic law or not (I've already made up my mind) the question is how you would feel if Christians/Jews killed converts to islam from their religions.
