Holidays - November 2007

Meaning that it doesn't feel the same to you as it once did when you were younger? It's like after all that build up to that day, and you open your gifts (that's if you even receive any), you get a 'Now what?' kind of feeling (at least I do). Now I'm single with no kids, so that may factor into why I feel this way, but I wanted to know other people's opinions.

I plan on getting my best friend of 4 years a really nice Christmas present (I don't know what yet). His three younger brothers, ages 7, 12 and 17 are cool. They're always fun around the house, I take them places when parents or older brother isn't around. I was thinking of getting the boys each a small Christmas present (maybe some candy & a $10 giftcard). Their parents also have been wonderful to me. So my question is: I am certainly buying my best friend something, but do I just buy presents for the brothers, for both the brothers & parents (and if so, what could I get them?) or just for the whole family?

My Grandmother passed away this week. My mom and I were very close to her. I want to give my mom a heartfelt present that would remind her of the good times all three of us spent together. I prepared a great meal for my family and several guests that were invited yesterday. We had a lot of fun and everyone raved about the food. During cleanup, one of my guests mentioned that she wanted to take home some leftovers for her and her husband and I said that was was fine. There was enough food left for several days to munch on. I didn't pay attention since I was doing dishes but I heard them complimenting the dishes I'd prepared. They put their food bundles in a bag near the door. When I looked at what was left I was appalled! There was nothing left! The husband told the wife to leave "something" so she scooped out of her dishes. What we got left with was enough food for one person to enjoy for lunch! I have never seen such a practice in my life, and certainly have never done this myself. Its been my belief that the host and hostess get to keep most of the stuff and that you send home some plates with guests of dishes they really enjoyed. Thoughts?

I belive that you should greet people by saying Merry Christmas cuz when you say Seasons Greetings or Happy Holidays, it seems like you try to erase the one thing that even lets us celebrate Christmas. The fact that that why its called CHRISTmas? Cause its Christ who was born that day.

I'm trying to get alittle X-mas shopping done online right now. My hubby likes Adidas cologne but I'm not sure which one!!! I was almost positive it was "MOVES" but I was also sure it had numbers in the name of it , something like "0.01" None of the bottles of anything I have searched online so far have numbers on them! Does anyone know whether they just changed the packaging on me, or if I am looking at a different pakage?? Is there another product "Moves 0.01" or something simmilar? I Am sure it was Adidas!

My parents are pretty into the whole 'Christmas decorating' thing, which is fine with me. To each his own, but they keep trying to get me involved, like by wearing hats or scarves with snowmen on them, and trying to get me to decorate my bedroom for Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I like the spirit of Christmas just as much as anyone, but is it so wrong to not be Happy Christmas Jolly, and still enjoy xmas?
