Nintendo DS. Although I must admit my parents would never spend that much money on me when I was 12! I got a 'Supervision' instead of the gameboy I asked for.
I'm 27 now and I appreciate why they did not buy me the gameboy and I must confess the supervision was surprisingly good, easily a match for the gameboy, just not as well loved

Uuummmm, you could get clothes, make-up, a spa kit, shoes, if you like barbies, (cuz i know some 12 yr olds do) you could ask for them, an mp3, ipod, a gift basket, a puppy, a cat, other animals, or just plain money, a check, a gift card, etc; and other stuff.

I always write down a wishlist that I add to during the year and when someone asks, I pull it out. Maybe you should let yourself be surprised. Sometimes it's more fun than knowing what you'll get.
