Absolutely not. In my family there are some who are having a hard time financially and I have told each of them to please not bur gifts. We need to take care of our families and children before anything. Christ is our Gift From God and where all this gift giving comes from is that society has brought it alone and the Sellers take advantage of it. Christmas is to celebrate Christ' birth. Good luck.

No. You don't have to give anything. However, do you like getting presents every Christmas? If the answer is "yes" then examine how you feel when you do and what it must feel like for those who get your presents. Presents should be a thoughtful choice on the part of the giver with the thought that those who receive are special. Those who receive honor those who give by expressing thanks and by writing thank you cards the following week.
But, no, you don't have to give if you don't feel like receiving.

If you are short on money this year, call family and tell them. I called my parents and told them money is tight and asked them if it was okay if we didn't exchange super expensive stuff this year.
I wish we could break away from buying presents for the adults and just get stuff for the kids in the family. It's not like there is even anything any adult my family NEEDS this year. We all buy what we need when we need it. And while we may want some silly thing now, will we even use it in a month?
When asked what I wanted this year, all I could think of was stuff for childproofing around the house. No one takes me seriously when I ask for things like socks and underwear, which is honestly the only stuff I need.

You don't have to wait for christmas to give presents to your love ones..... everyday is christmas day !
It's not obbligatory to give presents and nowadays, people may understand if you don't buy anything (talking about the cost of living) .
But if your the type of person who prefer to give presents to your love ones, it's not necessary to buy something that costs a lot, look for something economical but meaningful and useful .
IT'S NOT A MATTER OF PRICE, IT'S A MATTER OF REMEMBERING AND GIVING JOY TO EVERYBODY SPECIALLY ON CHRISTMAS DAY !!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR LOVE ONES |!!!!!!!!!!

You never have to give a present. I give presents because I like to give things to my family and friends.

No you don't. Modern American Christmas (also known as the big MAC) was invented to sell people things, food, and drink they don't need. Get off the consumer wagon and share what you have with those who need it most.
That is real humanity which most people have forgotten was supposedly the original message of Christ.

no. christmas has unfortunately been turned into such a commercial, material, and almost capitalist holiday, with little to no spiritual power it once had. ive pretty much abandoned any conventional gift giving.
here are some alternative ideas
-nothing over 15 dollars
-make it your self
-activity gifts ( giving time and gas to small but meaningful outings.

Nope. Remember, Christmas ain't about the people you love and the gifts that you give -- it's all about Christ's birth. :]
