Yes, we can donate blood, and I've donated a couple times when my mosque held blood drives.

And if I'm not mistaken, donating organs is also allowable depending on the situation. The Quran says that to save one life is as if to save all of humanity. (Quran 5:32).

Yes we are allowed to donate blood and organs too. I havent donated blood yet because I live in a non-Muslim (secular) country. But yes I would definitely donate blood if my fellow Muslims life is at stake. Same is with organs we are allowed to under certain conditions but neither blood nor organs should be for profit. You are also required to avoid donating blood if you know that it might harm someone (like infectious blood etc.)

There's a site know as asktheiman that addresses this. The answer is yes, but there are conditions. I didn't find the conditions too restrictive--one condition is simply that there should be a need for the donation. If you google "muslims-donate blood" you'll find a lot of sites that show the Red Crescent" has blood drives.

yes, muslims are allowed to donate blood. the only situation where you are not allowed to donate, if you know that your blood contains something harmefull (i.e. viruses).

there is a difference between blood and organs donation.

blood is renewed periodically, and there will be no harm in donation. your boody will compensate the amount taken from you. in addition you are saveing others' lives by your donation.

in contrast, organs donation may harm the donator or in best cases decreases his performance. i can't say it is totally forbidden or not. this needs a "fatwa" from a trusted place (i.e. alazhar in egypt), but i'm sure it is not the same as blood donation.

in addition, none of the muslims countries had forbid blood donation. it is legal there. Many donation campaigns are encouraged to be held and they are advertised every where even in mosques.

yes of course it's allowed in Islam . Besides, it's recommended as a kind of "Sadaka or Zakah= a grant for patient and for poor" to thank God on you health . it's obligatory in Islam to help others. in Egypt, there is a big campaign for blood donation in the streets, universities, everywhere and the people donate for the patients. Every thing related to the best of people is allowed in Islam.

We are allowed to donate our blood and organs. Because if we do it, we will make a difference because we saved other people's lives. Allah will be happy if we do that.

It is permissible to receive blood from the Blood Bank even if the donor was a kaafir. Likewise, it is also permissible to donate blood to non-Muslims as long as they are not fighters of Islam. A fighter of Islam would be defined as one who fights Muslims with weapons or finances such fighting with his wealth, or helps such fighting. If one is not able to know for sure, then it suffices to act according to ghalabat ul-zann (one's best estimate or what is most likely and probable).

ahabbak allaah ul-ladhi ahbabtani fih.

(May Allaah love you as you have loved me for His sake.)
