I have a budget of $50 maxamium...have a bf...any ideas?

do so many people feel we have to buy things for our kids? I don't buy Valentine's Day gifts for my kids, but I do for my husband and he does for me. We also go out to dinner among other fun things ;) We both feel that this holiday is meant for lovers, not kids. Last Valentine's Day his ex complained that he didn't send his kids flowers, cards and candy for the special holiday. I tried to explain to his kids that this holiday is for lovers, not a kid holiday like Christmas or Easter when you get 'stuff' but their mother made it seem to them as if their dad didn't care enough to send them gifts! I refuse to send gifts to kids for Valentine's Day, am I wrong? I've never done it for my kids. They do have their little party at school which is also weird to me as their so young and don't even understand the holiday. So is NOT sending gifts to the kids ok or should we send gifts?

My x-boyfriend and I have been broke up since May 06, it was not a bad break up so we remain friends. In the last month the lines have gotten a little blurred (i.e. we had sex about 4 weeks ago), but I still feel like I should move on. I have meet this new guy that is great and I really like him, but do not know how to tell my X that I want to be JUST FRIENDS since I feel as though I have been given him mixed message. Now, the new guy wants to go out for Valentines and I don't know what to do

I'm thinking of having one of my friends call up my woman and telling her that I died in a car accident. After she starts crying for a bit I will ring the doorbell with a big bouquet of red roses. Then we will go out for dinner. I think she will be so surprised! Do you agree?

Well, me and my man have been together for almost three years. I know him so well, yet every valentines day I get so stuck on what to get him. He says that Valentine's day is a girls day to get pampered, and showed that SHE is loved. BUT I still want to get him a little something...... Now he loves guitar, BUt thats to much, he has a new watch, and Ipod..... a cell phone...... all that stuff.... He is a Hockey LOVER, he loves to hike and do all the Sporty/outdoory type stuff....... My question is do I still need to buy her flowers if I already bought her a iPod and spent the time and energy to fill it up with her favorite music. It's not a cheap Nano either, it's the 30gb Video one. I don't really think spending $50+ (they jack up the prices for V-Day) is worth it. Also, let me mention that this is a long-distance relationship so unfortunately I won't be able to see her.
