I tend to use the words "ummm" and " I'm sorry" way to much while at work. I would like to cut those COMPLETELY out of my daily vocabulary and save "I'm sorry" for when it really counts. "UMMMMM" just is so annoying and I know I dont sound professional when I use it. SO CAN ANY ONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK OR PERHAPS A FRESH NEW WORD OR TWO THAT I MAY USE TO PERK UP MY PHONE ETIQUETTE?

Is anyone else sick and tired of receiving emails regarding your ANSWERS to Yahoo Questions. I answer questions based on my own personal experience or my own personal opinions. Therefore, to all you do-gooders out there; stop feeling the need to mail me when you don't like my answers. Truth be told, I don't really care if you agree with me or not. You are just waisting your time. Besides isn't the whole purpose of Yahoo Answers to get people's OPINIONS? If ASKERS really wanted professional answers they wouldn't be typing into an internet forum they would be seeking professional help.

Dating Etiquette: Restaurant Seating?

Scenario: On a blind date at an restaurant, a young couple follow the hostess as she escorts the two to their table. Once they arrive at the table, the hostess stands back and waits for the couple to seat themselves. The table sits near a wall, where one chair faces the other diners in the restaurant, while the other chair faces the wall. Both find themselves standing right behind the chair facing the wall. Immediately, the couple realize that the hostess will not try to seat either of them, leaving the couple to seat themselves.

Question: How should the couple seat themselves, including who should sit where (if it even matters)?

Hi My sister in law and her husband just bought a new house here in the U.S. She lived for a short time in Ireland and really enjoyed it there.

I'm trying to think of a suitable housewarming gift for her (around $10 as I don't have a lot of money). Any suggestions? In particular, if she was still living in Ireland, what would a typical Irishperson give as a housewarming gift?

Thanks!

This is just a Yes or No question, more out of my own curiosity. TIPS actually means: To Insure Prompt Service. So how many out there really know why you tip?

I'm on the no call list, but I still get calls from not-for-profits and political candidates. What do you do to discourage these people and get off their call lists?

Recently 8 inches of rain fell from the sky in one day which led to my basement flooding from back up water through the drain pipe. My basement was partially finished, but I didn't lose much besides the carpeting. While dumping my garabage I spoke to my neighbor for the second time in a year and he insisted he help me with getting my carpet out of my basement because he knew how hard it was to do, having just finished his own. I was hesitant, but finally agreed (which was wise because there is no way I could have done it by myself). I offered money or to take him to dinner when the job was done, but he refused saying "no problem". I told him I would be available to him for absolutely anything he needed help with in the future, but I still feel indebted to him and want to do something for him.

Any Suggestions?

I thought to buy a couple of lobsters and a bottle of wine for them but I think I remember that he said he doesn't like lobster and doesn't drink!

A family friend in another state just died after a long illness. The family is very poor & the widow has major health problems of her own. I would like to send money instead of flowers, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate.

Every time I am in the library, there is a different inconsiderate moron close by with headphones on, playing the most obnoxious and loud music possible. Last time I looked around at the other people by me, and said "sure is nice of him to supply the music for everyone". They all laughed, and I think he kind of guessed what was going on, because he turned his crap down a little at least.

You ask a question to get people opions, but there is always one person ready to spoil this by being very rude, why is that. A question forum like this I feel is a support network. On most occasions there are no problems but some times there is one ready to spoil things. I think that the forum organisers should help put a stop to this form of abuse what do you think guys.

things go get the slutty look, but I am not a slut..I have a master's degree but I love it when guys hit on me...I can always turn them away..by acting snobby...I am a size seven in my tight jeans...sometimes I squeeze into a five...I go braless sometimes, I have a tramp stamp tattoo, and I smoke cigarettes...what else can I do for the slutty, yet classy look? What I am doing now turns about every guys head, but I want more... What about bleaching my hair..and nail tips?
