A tissue would be a great substitute! You wouldn't die, but your stomach might get really queasy at the sight of what's in your nose.

One day you will need to sneeze, the air travelling at 140 miles up your windpipe will not be able to come down your nostrils which will be blocked........it will either explode your nose or fire out the bung of snot at great speed and woe betide anyone in its path !

such an entertaining question deserves an answer! :)
well, i saw this tramp once in victoria station... he clearly never picked his nose.... there was snot every where, with these kinda snoticles developing on his chin. from a distance you could have mistaken them to be a dredlock beard or something...
arrrrgh! just too gross even remembering it!!!
thought it might help you to know this on your road to spiritual enlightenment though :)

You don't have to pick it. Just press one nostril closed... and give a huge outward snort. Keep some bread handy. Or you can just sniff 'n' swallow.
