I wear the tighter jersey and bike shorts because that's what cyclists wear, but I always get whistled at or something...how should I reply to this? I simply want to bike! If I supersize my McDonald's meals and eat there four times each day instead of only twice daily to gain about 300 kg., will I attract less attention?

I am not inquiring about which cultures greet with kisses and such; I want the reasoning behind it!

Thank you!

The woman I work with is a friend of mine, but I do not want to be rude an tell her she really gets on my nerves sometimes. When the boss is gone she brings her kids to work with her and lets them sit at our computers to play games and expects us to move and work around them. Plus, her kids are bratty and loud. Then she will sit and brag about all kinds of things and tell stories I do not care to hear about instead of doing her job. I like her as a person, but how do I deal with the annoying stuff?

So Mom and I have been having this aurgument about who to invite to MY wedding, she insisted on inviting people from out of state whom I have no seen since I was 3, so of course I don't remember who they are!

I advise their was not enough room for these people to come! Mom insisted that we need to invited to be polite and THEY WOULD IN NO WAY ACTUALLY TRAVEL TO COME TO OUR WEDDING!

Well you can guess the rest! They are comming so now I have a hall that holds 125 people and 140 attending....?

So now of course it's my fault because I booked the small hall... I wanted a small wedding, since I am paying for most of it! Mom is not helping out at all.

what would be the polite thing to do in this situation? PLease Help!!!

I'm not predjudiced but this is just something that I have noticed. I don't see what the harm would be in saying hello back. Does this have something to do with the Breer Rabbit and the Tar Baby story? In that story, Breer Rabbit was mad at the tar baby because he wouldn't speak to him. Maybe that is why white people just smile when spoken to by a black. They probably think that blacks have read that story and are trying to switch it around. When someone just gives me "the smile" I never speak to them again!

My pet dislike is people who put their feet on the seats in trains and buses - I'd love for them to sit on some of their own filth and ruin some of the chavvy crap they usually wear. What do you think?

I remember when people used to hold the door for others, or say please, thank you and excuse me when trying to pass by on a store aisle. I remember when most people used their blinkers and would actually let you over when you were trying to merge in traffic. So many common courtesies are not being practiced and I find it very sad.
