Agree totally, filthy habit and so bad mannered, you will also find the sort that do that are usually the first to complain when they have muck all over their clothes, bums on seats and feet or floor.

I think you're being pathetic. I put my feet up, and I'm a high paid City Trader, graduate of Cambridge, certainly not a chav.....
..... they did a study once of two random seats from British rail train. They analysed them, and found they had within the fabric, 4 different rats droppings, about 14 different traces of blood, 20 different traces of seaman, 30 different traces of unrine, these aren't the exact numbers .... they're likely to have been sick on, farted on, maybe even pooed on ..... and you're worried about what my £300 leather Church's will do to them???
I always bring this up if someone complains. Don't get me wrong, if it's a packed train, I won't do it, but I get in at 6:30 am, and there's not usually very many people on it, so if someone complains, I tell them where to go ....

I think that people with pet dislikes need to relax. I'm not trying to be mean, so please don't be offended. Recognize that if you're reacting to someone, you're choosing that reaction. You can choose a different reaction, like recognizing that it feels nice to relax, put your feet up, and take it easy.
It would be more polite if they took their shoes off first, but please, be more concerned about your own actions than what other people do. If we all focused more on our own behavior, and less on others, this world would be a better place.

I couldn't agree more! Nothing is as annoying as those pretending to be sleeping, their feet on a seat when there's nowhere for others to sit! I rarely use public transport (Not a great fan) But this happened to me on a couple of occasions and i made a point of waking them up and taking the seat, that is after ... Making sure it was clean!!!
