Does everyone feel self-concious or worry about how others' see them?
I was looking back at pictures of my grandfather who passed away 4 years ago. He was such a brilliant, fearless man. I was comparing myself to him and wondering if he felt any concerns about the way others' viewed him as I do about myself. I tend to compare myself to others and judge myself. I worry about what other people think of me and at times feel like I don't measure up. Then I look at my grandfather and I could never imagine him having self doubt. Did he worry about how others' saw him? He wore what was comfortable, ate what he wanted, did what he wanted- I never once saw or heard him not do something because he worried what other people would think about him. Are all older people this way or just my grandpa? Did he have really high self esteem or did I just see no flaws in him? I really think he couldn't care less about what other people thought of him.

Please help me understand this. Our County is giving free
immunizations (shots) to 14
year old girls to protect them against uterine cancer later.
They are targeting young
girls before they begin sexual
activity.
I have never heard of sexual
activity causing any kind of
female cancer.
Please someone, enlighten
me on this?

if so, which types of procedures have you had? what age did you start feeling old and didn't exactly like what you saw in the mirror and felt insecure? if not, do you plan to get any plastic surgery later and what specifically? whether they are minor or major improvements/enhancements,etc, name them? did it drastically change the way you feel? are you addicted to plastic surgery? what do you think about old people that get plastic surgery? (mainly for vanity purposes, not so much referring to necessary procedures in my question.) do you think it helps their confidence to stay youthful or are they in denial about their age? do you think these old people are as shallow/superficial as the young people that get plastic surgery? and all other opinions? thanks.

Our illustrious Governer has just signed
a new landmark bill into law.
It seems that now any prospective
landlord is not allowed to ask the legal
status of any immigrant.
It was Bill 975:Calderon. I'm not sure
if this covers all ethnic groups or just
latinos.
I do not know the legal recourse if
a landlord asks (or demands) to know
whether a person is actually a citizen
or not.
I'm not going to give my opinion because I want to hear yours (honestly.)
On this site, you have freedom of
speech (sometimes.)

before i had a family, i worked in a nursing home for the elderly. it is scary to see how many end up alone, having no family that come & visit, even on christmas & birthdays. some family have the excuse, that they want to remember them when they were not sick & invalid.
do you think this is cruel & selfish or do you think it is acceptable???

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, design a building, write a sonnet, ballance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate and analyze a problem, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently and to die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. Who wrote this?? I think it packs a bunch of weight.

Did the law ever come in England, that every where had to have easy access for wheel chairs and disabled. Only our local bus has two high steps up, three counting the first step onto the bus. I'm having trouble when coming back from shopping with a trolly when it's full, but also notice what a job some old people have of getting on and off the bus. There is no way a wheel chair person could get on.

I work with the homeless veteran population in a 2 year transitional housing facility. My job is to find housing for my clients when their two years are up. Their rent is currently 30% of their income which is usually a pension from social security or the VA. None of my clients get more than 900/mo... some get only 600/mo.

Several of my clients have felonies on their record from when they were in their 20s... they're now in their late 60s and don't qualify for affordable housing through the housing authority bc of their background. Where do seniors who have felony backgrounds live when all they have is their social security to live off of?

I live in Las Vegas and have contacted metro and they didn't know. I'm waiting on a call from a case manager at one of the correctional facilities for any halfway houses that are around, but I'm wondering if it would be affordable... esp for my clients that only recieve 600/mo. Any ideas?

how do you have a positive attitude about life? My grandmother's 79 and had a few problems but nothing real serious and she thinks life's crappy because she's old and I can't convince her life isn't that bad. She only has stomach and nerve problems, had high chlosterol but doc took her off the med for it because she was doing fine, she's on meds for bone density and I think it's because she had a broken hip which is doing fine. She loses her memory and gets confused some but I think it's mostly stress. Other than that, she's healthy. She's pretty skinny so she doesn't eat too much but she's not too skinny like she thinks she is. Many people would die to be skinny like her!

They always ask at the doctor's office why you are there, and you
have to answer in front of others what's wrong and sometimes it is
embarrassing.
There's nothing worse than a Doctor's Receptionist who insists you
tell her what is wrong with you in a Room of other patients. I know
most of us have experienced this, and I love the way this old guy handled it:
An 86 year old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached
the desk....
The Receptionist said, "Yes sir, what are you Seeing the Doctor for today?"
"There's something wrong with my dick", he replied.
The receptionist became irritated and said, "You shouldn't come Into
a crowded waiting room and say things like that."
"Why not? You asked me what was wrong and I told you," he said.
The Receptionist replied; "Now you've caused some embarrassment in
this room full of people. You should have said there is something
wrong with your ear or something, and discussed the problem further
with the Doctor in private."
The man replied, "You shouldn't ask people questions in a room full
of strangers, if the answer could embarrass anyone.."
The man walked out, waited several minutes and then re-entered.
The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, "Yes ?"
"There's something wrong with my ear", he stated.
The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken
her advice.
"And what is wrong with your ear, Sir ?"
"I can't piss out of it," he replied.
The waiting room erupted in laughter.

Mess with seniors and you're gonna lose!
