Shame on your brother! Maybe he's waiting until it goes up in value... you know, like your dad did with the money you found.
As far as the neatest thing I ever found... One spring my family and I were hiking up a creek and climbing rocks. My dad had his good camera with him. When he got to the top of a waterfall, he slipped and the camera fell into the water. The next fall my X, son and I went hiking there again. Everything was dried up. My X looked down where the waterfall was and there was the camera! It was full of sand, but just the idea that we found it after all that time and pounding water was amazing to us!
One thing I did find was left behind in a storage cabinet. It was a book of collectors nickles. I added to it, but never checked out the value.

I find jewellery. So much that sometimes it gets embarrassing. Just a few of my treasures...
My first find was a bloodstone ring when I was 16 years old. It was the same night that I met a very young, and not yet overwhelmed by his own stardom Elton John. My sister insisted that I give it to her, even though bloodstone was MY birthstone.
Then I found a pearl and diamond ring. What made it especially unique was that the pearls were real, and one was black and the other was white with a light pink blush to it. My sister also insisted on getting that one, although I didn't complain about turning that one over, as I felt the ring embodied a sadness in it.
Then I found a ruby ring. Rubies are beautiful, and red is supposed to be my colour, but I never liked the stone and gave that one away gladly.
While I was married my talent at finding rings deserted me, but immediately following my divorce, I started finding rings again....a huge star sapphire set in a man's ring with diamonds in a bar down one side. I gave that ring to my mother, and when she died and the ring came back to me I gave it to my youngest daughter at her request. She has since given it to her boyfriend, who I think has either sold it or lost it, because I haven't seen it at all in a couple of years.
I also found an ordinary blue sapphire stone ring, surrounded by diamonds, which I also gave to my mother. It is still in my possession now, after having come back to me.
The last thing I found was a diamond cross pendant. It was lying on the ground, rolled up into a ball. I very carefully unfolded it and wasn't really sure of what it was until I had it lying flat on the palm of my hand. I have superglued it to the glass covering my mother's portrait that I keep on my dresser, where it sparkles with the light of the sun at sunset every night.

That is so neat Wally ! I'd be camped out at the beach after that. The best thing I've found is the seniors' site on Y&A. There's a lot of good people pass through here from all over the world. You can't buy that kind of luck!

It may not sound like much, but it means something to me.
I was walking along the beach and saw something glittering in the sun. I stopped to see what it was and could only see gold shing out through a very large pile of kelp. I sat down and untangled what turned out to be a fishing lure. It was still attached to fishing line and it took me 4 hours to untangle it.
It had a little ring at the end of it and I put it on my key ring. That was in 1981. I can always find my keys because not many people have a brass fishing lure on their key ring.

Every summer my husband and I used swim, then walk on the beach every Monday morning about 5:00am.
We would find gold bracelets, necklaces, earrings, cameras, shoes, toys, you name it, at about 6:00 am, the folks with the metal detectors came to the beach, we never stayed to see what they found. We would check the lost and found in our local paper and the San Diego paper for 2 months then just stick them away somewhere.

I found a necklace that I lost four years ago. I was walking home from campus and slipped on ice, I was wearing this really long gold necklace my grandpa gave me. When I got home I realized it was gone. I cried for days. Anyway, when I got back from break this summer, four years later, I found my necklace hanging from a tree near to where I fell! I was just walking and the sun made it catch my eye. I'm so happy I found it and someone was honest enough to leave it. Oh, by the way, I know it's mine because there's an inscription on the pendent.

A 1909S VBD penny back in the 70's - in a driveway to a shopping center......WOW!!
I gave it to my son who was collecting coins...he still has it and it has really increased in value.
I also found a wallet once with several thousand dollars in it - in the parking lot of a restaurant in the city. As luck would have it, the driver's license and other I.D. was in it and, being honest, I returned it.
I'd LOVE to find something really exciting that I could keep......

Once back in high school, my friend Shelly and I found two ten dollar bills folded together. They were lying on the ground at the parish picnic. We took them to Father and he announced that some money had been found. No one claimed it so he gave it to us. We were having a building drive, so we donated $10 and used the rest for rides.

I must not be very lucky because lately the best that I've found is a 12 pack of soda that someone left on the bottom of a grocery cart in the store parking lot.

An old horse harness? I'm not sure what they are called but it was wooden and went around the horses head like a collar.
I found it when my grandson was digging in the mud near an old stream. I saw the metal and wood and got so excited I helped him finish digging. OK well, actually he found it. But I pulled it up first. LOL
