We're not old. We just survived what the world had to throw at us. We learned how to solve problems on our own. I climbed trees, played cowboys and indians with my brothers and sister, i played baseball with my dad, i sat outside and didn't have to worry about getting hit by a stray bullet because of a drive by. In my day the meaning of family didn't mean for kids one way and parents the other, because we accepted what our parents could afford to get us and not be rude to older people. We didn't have to worry about one of our friends getting drunk and killing us, themselves or someone else.
Parents told us what to do and we did it whether we liked it or not, and I raised my girls the same way. We lived in a world that wasn't cruel and everyone wasn't out to get everyone else and that is why we survived. Hope you can say that when you are 50 and older. Cause I am 55 and I am proud of it!

I often ask myself this same question & I don't have an answer that makes any sense to me either! That's simply what happens to humans. We are born, then we die. Some of us are dead before our bodies stop working. I'm guessing that this is what you might have meant when you used the word OLD? I know some 20 year olds who have the same problems that I do at age 54...go figure! Lmfao!

Just lucky I guess. Why are you asking? Wouldn't you like to be old someday? Think of the alternative. By the way, old is not so bad. As long as you can stay reasonably healthy you can have a great time.

What are you calling "old"? I am just 51 and I am not old yet. To me old is like 100 or better. By the way you are in Senior Citizens section you know. Do you not think that "older" folks should be allowed to be here on the computer? It is fun for ALL ages.

Consider the alternative. Why are YOU still alive with a pee brain attitude like that? Maybe you'd like your parents not to live much longer? That way THEY won't be OLD and become an inconvenience to you (like you were to them?). Maybe you'd like to 'check out' at 30? That way YOU won't wind up being OLD.
You don't quit riding motorcycles because you grow old, you grow old because you quit riding!

How delightful of you to show interest in the mature aged population!
Oh no, I am 30-something, but I couldn't resist answering this question. An "old"-er friend of mine send me an email one day. I copied and pasted it for your enjoyment:

To all of you who are nearing 50 or over (you will go down memory lane)
...
Congratulations to all the kids who were born in the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!
...
First: we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then: after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking. As children, we would ride in cars without seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a Ute on a warm day was always a special treat.
And …
- Doctors and dentists never wore latex gloves.
- We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
- We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.
- We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because … we were always outside playing!
- We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. We were ok.
- We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
- We did not have Play-stations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms ... We had friends. We went outside and found them!
- We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
- We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
- We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and (although we were told it would happen) we did not put out very many eyes.
- We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!
- Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!
...
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned ... How to deal with it all!
...
And you are one of them! Congratulations!
But don’t stop here … share it with your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.
THE END
;-)

That is a bit of a rude question! I am 33 years old and find it very rude. One day you will be old too.

Don't forget, our older people of today were your age once and made it possible to live in the world we have today and to have and use all the little gadgets you use.

You sound like you could use a little respect my friend.

'Cause when we were kids, there weren't computers and television and other entertainment that doesn't require any physical exertion. We got heaps of exercise because we walked or biked everywhere and spent our spare time outdoors consequently we got to the age we are now -----

Because God is good all the time and you should pray that you reach old age. God Bless.
