your opinion, if you had a male friend and slapped them in a fight, would they have right to reliate, just curious as to what you think please.

ANYONE who hits first, should be prepared to be hit back. Even if the first to hit was a woman, and the one she hit was a man. You get no special dispensation for sex in my set of morals.
I find too many women try to take advantage of men who have been raised never to hit a woman, by being the aggressor and expecting to get away with it.
The more modern generations mostly don't follow the old "rules" that our generation was raised with.
Having said all that, I think that spousal or date abuse, no matter which sexes are involved should be punishable to the full extent of the law...there should be no "softening" of rules when the abuse is happening in a committed relationship.

The main problem here is that women tend to slap but men tend to punch so unless the woman wants a punch she's best not slapping him in the first place! Tc would never hit a woman even if she'd given him a right wallop....but the problem today is that unless we teach our sons n grandsons that this is not done in polite society how else are they going to know about chivalrous behaviour? Our 17yr old daughter has been in a few fights at school in her time and she says she would rather fight a lad anyday rather than another girl because girls are dirty fighters! Also, there are a lot of tv programmes these days where guys fight girls on a regular basis which is sending out the wrong message to our youngsters. We taught Sprogg that she should 1) Walk away. 2) Try talking and only use 3) Hit back in self-defence in extreme circumstances. Back to your question....if the chap was a friend....why would you be in a fisticuffs situation anyway? Having been in abusive relationships in the past I would not wish any woman to get hit/punched by a man because a punch to the cheekbone (that's where they land one 9 out of 10 times) is blooming painful!!!

Who was at fault? Was the slap warranted? If the male friend was making unwanted advances and got a little too fresh... a slap could be appropriate. If you just blindside him with a slap without provocation then you are in the wrong. Ether way a real man would not seek any type of retribution. Most guy's have thick skins.

When I was young, it was a no no. A man with manners would never strike a woman. He has more upper body strength and can cause great harm. It shows that he respects women.
For today, with an any-thing-goes attitude, I am not so sure. Since women have equal rights in every aspect, then yeah, you get what you ask for. But I don't think it is ever appropriate for a man to strike a woman, even if she slaps him.

Who are you calling an "old timer"? If I slapped anyone.. male or female.. across the face I would certainly expect the same in return. I would also hope that I was mature enough that I would not resort to hitting another person. There are better ways. Try talking!

No ever has the right to hit another person to begin with. If I slap anyone-male or female, I would expect to get slapped back. I would have to rethink this 'friendship' if you all are fighting and it's becoming physical. No one should stay in any relationship that is abusive.

I was raised that a man was to never strike a woman but after talking to a few men I've learned that if a woman slaps them because they are mad that they would certainly get slapped back. Just not with their full force.
I know someone ( a family member) truth, that is so controlling and bossy and got in her husbands face yelling. His response was to push her back away from himself. Which I thought was a better choice than hitting.

A woman could beat on me forever and like Jet Li in Romeo Must Die, I cannot hit a woman. For any reason. It is not manly, it is not right that a man hit a woman and I totally abhor a man that does or has done so. Men who hit women should be put into a room with a bunch of irritable kangaroos as far as I am concerned. They will teach him why a man shouldn't hit a woman if he survives.

Adults do not SLAP anyone nor do they get into PHYSICAL FIGHTS. Only immature nimrods do that. These days, if you slap or punch someone, you most likely will be arrested for assault and battery, unlike 'back in the day' when guys would slug it out, then go have a beer together.
